You Ever Have the Pleasure of Playing With Really Great Bandmates?

Yeah, last year I played for a few months with a amazing bass player and a awesome saxophonist in a jazz and funk band. And this year for a couple months with a great keyboard player and a really good trumpet player in a funk band.

These guys had amazing ears and even better chops. I struggled to keep up with them. Even though it's hard and challenging, in the long run I like playing with people who are better than me because it stretches me as a player and makes me a better musician.

Drummers and bass players I seem to have good luck with, I’ve been in bands with 3 BADASS drummers and 2-3 outstanding bass players, but when it comes to guitar and vocals I haven’t been anywhere near as lucky.

My best friend, Jay, will always be my favorite drummer on the planet. Dude was crushing Dream Theater songs when he was 16, went on to go to Berklee and take every single Mike Mangini lab he could then moved to Nashville and got gud playing everything but technically challenging music.

I love watching him play, he always has the perfect part, always plays with the right dynamics and he’s one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever been blessed to have met.

I feel very fortunate that in the line of music I work in I have the privilege of playing with so many amazing professionals!

I get to play with musicians who have spent time playing on Broadway, Nashville sessions, the NYC jazz scene, LA sessions, national and international tours with famous artists, and several who are professors at various colleges and universities. Plus some very accomplished local professionals.

It’s a blast, and it pushes me to become a better musician

Currently in a band with the best singer I've had the pleasure of working with -ever! Same with the bassist and the drummer was just upgraded from a really basic guy to a power pocket player with flare who locks in with said bassist really well.

I've worked with bad drummers and singer because there was no one else. So Stoked with the current line up for sure.

To quote Walter Becker 'if you don't have a good drummer you may as well stay home'...........
