Who's gigging an expensive nitro-finished guitar as their no.1 ?

My 94 SG Standard was rode hard and put away wet.. it was aged very nicely without being abused by the owners before I got it. If I love a guitar and am inspired, I'm going to play it out, regardless of the finish. I've played my R7/R8/R9 out, and my CS Strat.

Of course, when playing live regardless of the cost of the instrument, keep your eyes on the gear at all times, because most people suck.

I don't currently gig, but even when I did, the finish was the least of my concerns. I gigged my 80 Silverburst LPC a lot. Wore right through the finish on the neck, and it developed a big circle through the finish next to the bridge PU where I rested my pinky.

I'm very careful about dings though. Normal wear is one thing. But I'm pretty conscientious about not banging up my guitars. For me, that's not player-wear, that's carelessness.

I have very nice guitars, and I bought them all to play. And even though I've since switched to a closed pick grip (partly to avoid that wear hole), all my guitars still get some light marring in that area, from my hand, or light swirls from the pick. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fuck it. You can have marks that show you did something or you can have an art piece in my opinion
