Which style do you prefer?

Finishing up some car stereo work, going to Walmart at lunch, to get something I probably should have gotten, oh I don't know, like 30 years ago?

I've been using everything BUT the proper tool to strip wires, like scissors, forever

Which style wire stripping/crimp tool do you prefer?

I should say #2. But I have historically used #1.

#1 all the way. I hate strippers that pull the wire for you. They always mess up the insulation near the ends.

I cannot believe that all these years I’ve just used pocket knives and scissors, lol.

Mind you, I can remember the last time I had to strip or crimp wire was years ago, so it’s not that often, but, still, lol.

Back when I sold car audio, my installer used his teeth to strip wire.

Yup. Not good though. I always just used a lighter for car stereo stuff. House? Sure I have good strippers for that......oh and they use a lighter to remove the wire insulation.

Butane lighter works great in a pinch, too!
