This summer, all three of my kids went to different places. 4yo went to daycare, 8yo went to summer camp, and 14yo went to the gym. We've been shuttling the kids around nonstop.

In a couple weeks, all three of them will be getting picked up and dropped off by school buses. That's going to be amazing.

i never worked from home but its nice getting the kids back to school. summer was fun, really chill around our house. they swam a lot and rode bikes all over.

feels MUCH busier right now all of a sudden. 4 kiddos in soccer at the same time is fun and not a terrible idea at all lol, 2 different practices each night mon-thurs w games on sats lol.

Yeah sports is a major time sink. Both of mine are in multiple sports so we pretty much get one night off a week + Sunday, everything else is crammed with a practice or game for one of them.

Holy crap that would be hard!

My kids all were in multiple sports/activities over the summer but it was kind of spread out. I had one kid in gymnastics, one kid in track, two kids in figure skating, and my oldest was doing travel baseball, football camp, and working out at the gym in off days. Full time job shuttling everyone around!

Rest of the year won't be any easier...one kid still in gymnastics, one doing figure skating again, and my oldest is doing football five days a week. Luckily he's going into high school so practice is on campus after school and one less place for me to drive.

Then hockey's going to start ramping up. The middle kid will be doing hockey 3-4 days per week and the oldest kid is 6-7 days per week. Most of his practices are late at night too, which stinks. Nothing like bringing him to the rink at 8:30pm and then having to pick him up at 10:15pm.

But it's his last year of hockey most likely, so we're going to try and savor as much as possible. A decade of coaching and practices and games and tourneys coming into this year.

I used to love sports. :brick

Not sure if it is strictly an American thing----but it sure seems we are a sports-addicted
culture to an extreme that humanity has not seen before. It's kind of nuts. There is no rest.
None for parents and none for the kids. Even offseason is Travel Leagues--which actually
is worse than school-affiliated sports becazuse you are driving EVERY weekend to some
place far away. Fuck me!

My son actually tore his ACL at a Football scrimmage 2 years ago and has had to sit a lot and
rehab a lot since. Just got back into the swing this past Winter with 7 on 7 Travel Football. Back
playing now in his last year of High School.

I am super ambivalent about it all after going through it, and sometimes secretly wish he was a Band Camper.

Religion can be defined as what we do the most. Seems to me that our most invested
activities as a culture are sports related.

Sports is now a religion that out religions most religions.

Just an observation. :rofl

It does get a little better when they can drive themselves. There is hope.

That’s where we are. Basically one night a week if we’re lucky and Sunday.

We have been having tackle football practice 2.5 hours A NIGHT for mandatory conditioning and I honestly think it’s worse on the parents because at least they are doing something and having fun. We are just sitting there in 102 degrees with no shade or breeze. We are now down to three nights at 2 hours and the other two are Tae Kwon Do. Saturdays are basically games all day. It’s so damn busy.
