What's Your "Guilty Pleasure" Pop Song, or Pop Band/Song You'd Sing in the Shower, That No One Here Would Suspect?

Songs from early Sesame Street leapt to mind, especially Spinning Wheel and the Square Song (which popped up in an early scene of Close Encounters), not to mention the jazzy theme music.

i dont really believe in guilty pleasures. if its good its good and i dont really think im cool enough to have to hide anything i like bc i already assume im a dork hahaha. maybe having kids helps? no matter what you do you are always going to be old and lame plus you have them telling you what to put on in the car so im listening to stuff i probably never would have.

@DrewJD82 i love paramore so much. was an instant fan when riot came out and have been ever since. the way they have progressed and developed has been really cool

a few 80s synth pop / synthwave mentions. never really got into that growing up but have given it another chance recently and actually really enjoy it now.

current stuff i like: billie eilish, some of the weekends stuff, i like some of the rihanna songs, lana del ray, dua lipa, lorde

Generally speaking; I don't feel guilty about liking whatever music I like. I am sure there is something I should be embarrassed of but I can't come up with anything at the moment?

Yeah, I actually get a kick out of it because I have a Work playlist that has that Paramore song above then goes to a Cattle Decapitation song and if I start it when I leave the house it changes right about the time I’m pulling into my parking space in the garage and the reactions are priceless.

Like so many others, I love 80s synth pop such as Depeche Mode and Erasure. And I think that today's pop music is an insult to intelligence. Call me old and narrow-minded, I don't give a shit. The rubbish that's on the airwaves playlists these days is dumbing down the people. Compared to this crap, even Nu Metal sounds like a masterfully composed symphony.

I did a mean "Soul Suckin' Jerk" at one time. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is my current go-to though

Had to think about this a while, maybe the closest thing is some of the female fronted light pop rock of the 90's? Not that guilty though because the songs are so good and catchy and the girls are so pretty.

Lisa Loeb - Stay

The Sundays - Here's Where the Story Ends

Mazzy Star - Fade Into You

Natalie Merchant - Carnival

Side note - Lisa Loeb's Firecracker is a really great album if you want a reference track for headphones or speakers. It's just really well recorded.

I'm quite sure I've sung the Sundays in the shower before. :grin
