What's the best iPhone/iPad-powered interface these days? Is there one?

Now that the AM4 is no longer a man-purse rig, I need something for my man-purse, particularly for vacation in June. Previously, I had the IK iRig HD, and it was okay. Is there anything that sounds good-ish?

Are there any specific features you want it to do well with? Good sounding can mean many things - headphone amp or DAC or DI or mic preamps etc.

Most bus powered interfaces are going to perform somewhat similarly but the thing that’ll seperate them is usually a particular feature.

I thought you had a POD Express, unless I'm mistaken?
Small, sounds great, has an app. Battery power option, not bus though.

A used Boss GT1000 Core?
Oops, not bus powered I don’t think

That’s actually the worst one, only because there aren’t class compliant, I don’t think. Cool box though.

Nah, just good headphone amp, good input, 1/8” out is fine. Actually after posting this, I think the Polar Go might be cool because it’s got the USB-C power input.

Hmmm. I did think about that, since I've got shit-tons of caps. Not a bad idea at all. That allows me to record into GarageBand on an iPhone/iPad too, right?
Yes, it can act as an interface over usb-c while still direct monitoring on the headphone output. Bluetooth streaming too (or also via usb-c interface) the iOS app isn’t horrible either, not great, not horrible.

Not sure if it’s what you’re after but the boss gx1 gets about 5 hours off 4xAA batteries, or it can be usbc powered

I think I’d prefer this than cobbling together an interface/tablet or a gp5/power… just grab batteries and it’s one device…. Also has the benefit of being insanely cheap, full fx (fx chain is configurable even though it looks fixed)

Main con is it’s not quite pocket but it’s still very small

Not exactly an interface but Tonex Plug is pretty damn good for something quick and easy.
This was going to be my suggestion. The Tonex plug is obscenely convenient. It does require a plug adapter to use with a vintage style telecaster, which is peak IK, and maybe isn’t the most robust of their hardware, but it sounds like Tonex.

If you’re good with captures and already have a bunch of them, it might be a no brainer.
