I've not personally used one, although I'm pretty sure an old buddy has?
I would say it's plenty good for that application, and it has polar pattern options like omni, which should be ideal if you want to capture a room.
I've had a pair of Rode NT5's for 20 yrs, with switchable omni capsules, and those sound really nice for a room sound. I can pair them to a Millenia HV-3C preamp. Great for acoustic guitars too.
