The MXR M300 has pad, and it's reasonably priced.Say you wanted to get away from Big Box multi-everything reverb pedals, and just wanted a nice simple pedal that did huge washy pads.. what would you go for???

Yeah. Not my thing personally, but the Afterneath definitely does this.I have a Meris Mercury 7 - and think of the X as a Big Box Multi-Everything reverb...
EQD Afterneath V3.
Have you had the opportunity to try this pedal hooked up in stereo? It really seems to sing that way ;-).
I used to own one, sold it years ago after I bought a Flint. It was great, but to be honest I hardly ever used the pad setting...but you are correct. Big washy sound in stereo.Have you had the opportunity to try this pedal hooked up in stereo? It really seems to sing that way ;-).
Yeah it is pretty killer in stereo gotta say!Have you had the opportunity to try this pedal hooked up in stereo? It really seems to sing that way ;-).
Possibly. I do have it on my shopping list.Cloudburst?
Wow! Epic tune, brother. Really sets a tone. Very nice work!Possibly. I do have it on my shopping list.
Here's a recording of the kind of thing I am after, in a single pedal.

This is the MercuryX set to 78 Hall, with the mids cranked to 100% and bass and treble both at 30%, which means those frequencies die off faster than the mids do. It is set to 100% wet as well.
I'm not really after a shimmer thing. The MercuryX does that anyway, but it doesn't sound as good as the Pad mode on the MXR Reverb does. The Plethora X3 can do some of this stuff too.
VP4, of course. :)
This is the Deep Space reverb algorithm from Fractal land.
I'd maybe keep these? They feel unique to me.Meris pedals
But I don't think you'll really miss that. There are few effects from my M5 I can't quite nail yet, but I can get close. FreqOut being the really tough one to cop -- there's something about how the ring mod works in that one in the M5 that I find a little more musical than anything I can do with the ring mod on the VP4 or FM9.my Helix
Godamnit. Ordered.
The only two Meris pedals I own, thus far, are the Mercury 7 and the Polymoon - both stellar pedals, in my mind. No matter what other pedals I buy subsequently, I plan on keeping these indefinitely.I'd maybe keep these (referring to the Meris pedals) ? They feel unique to me.
Honestly... I do like them. But... whenever I shoot them out (as I did today) against your bog standard Boss DD-500, TC Electronic Flashback, Boss RV-5, and MXR Reverb .... I genuinely nearly always prefer the other options for "natural" reverbs... for the more exotic stuff, I tend to prefer the Axe FX III (which I still have btw!!!) over the Meris pedals. The Meris pedals are great, they're not shit at all. But editing them is not as nice as just turning some knobs on some singles, and not as nice as using the Axe3 editor, and overall the experience just kinda bores me. Even something as simple as tweaking the delay BPM ... you turn the knob and all of a sudden it jumps 10 or 20 bpm for no discernable reason... then the next time it doesn't.I'd maybe keep these? They feel unique to me.
I have a FreqOut pedal as it goes!! It is great. Never selling it.But I don't think you'll really miss that. There are few effects from my M5 I can't quite nail yet, but I can get close. Yeah that'd be sick, cheers!!I'll work up a VP4 preset that does what that AFIII preset does for you.
I've never yet owned any of the Fractal stuff. I've drooled over the ad's though LOL. But now that I've gone back to dedicated pedals, I'm not sure I'll go back to rack gear (which I used from 1997, for many years).Honestly... I do like them. Overall, they sound good, but I'm tired of the experience of actually using them. Plus, particular nod to the MercuryX here with the pitch effects being absolutely dogshit in my opinion. Fractal pisses all over Meris for shimmer and pitchy reverbs; as does the MXR reverb.

My VP4 should arrive next week I suppose. G66 UK (Suhk) is always on top form with his customer service.
I bought this one as well as the Keeley Caverns about a year ago. Both are stellar pedals. I like the Caverns just a slight bit more because it has separate foot switches for the reverb and delay which allows me to use one of them and not have to have them both on at the same time all the time.Dispatch master?
