What Is Your Most Underdog Guitar?

Simple question... What guitar do you love the most that seems to get no respect from anyone else?

For me, it's this MIJ John Page Classic AJ. I never understood why the JPC guitars didn't really catch fire. It's a solid axe that never fails to give what I expect out it. Not all guitars I own can do that.

Probably my Solar, due to being a Youtuber guitar + Indo + Evertune.

Definitely punches far above its weight and the more broken in this gets the happier I am with it. It definitely didn’t help that in the beginning of the pandemic a few Solars went out and developed fingerboard cracks, which was immediately WAY blown ut of context where people made it seem like every guitar would get the crack. To date I believe I have seen 3 actual guitars with cracked fingerboards.

Mine was a b-stock and it took me 5 minutes to find the “dent” that made them sell it for less….and it’s on the face of the guitar. I don’t even think you can see it in the pic above. Flawless frets, impeccable fit/finish all around, even with the dent. My only gripe is the electronics, you can just tell they’re cheap. But this thing cost me a whopping $1200, I’ll gladly take a well built guitar and swap out some guts.

I almost said my Ibanez SZ, but like most things with Ibanez, people actually dig those and Ibanez just doesn’t want to make them again.

P.S. "SOLDER SHIT FUCK IN HELL" :rofl

Ended up selling it but for me it was the Squier Jim Root Tele. That neck is incredible and with a pickup swap it would be a killer guitar if you like that shape.

Perhaps a US-made ’81 Hamer Special I bought used from across the pond back in 2011. It arrived severely damaged, with the set neck almost knocked off. After a fight with the eBay seller—and eBay weighing in on my side—I got some compensation. I had a good luthier make a structurally sound repair, but I didn’t prioritize the aesthetics at the time (no refinishing, etc.). So the guitar plays great, but the scars are obvious, and there’s basically no resale value to speak of compared to what it's worth to me.

It's a great guitar and I'm considering getting more Hamer USA guitars from that era.
