What Guitar Are You Playing At This Very Moment...

My purple Schecter again. Showing its rose gold at an angle time very well in the Sun today.

I've had two of them since then tbh. :sofa only one of them is looking like a keeper. I've been meaning to update my acoustic thread and you've just shamed me into doing it. :grin

I've got a new set of pickups to fit in my strat tonight and then I'll update my acoustic journey.

Spoiler it has a very happy ending which you've obviously already seen.

Just glad it all worked out. No shame. Just out of the loop a lot these days and was curious.

Fwiw, as far as "what guitar are you playing right now?" goes, unless it's for gigs and gig preparation, it's the same since weeks (ever since I bought it):

A Yamaha CGX, Flamenco version (doesn't sound much like a Flamenco guitar and I'm not playing any Flamenco, either).
It's literally the first thing I grab in the morning, playing some bits right when I still sit on the bed yawning.
It's got the perfect neck for me (and really, really decent string action, has a trussrod as well, should there ever be issues), still pretty much authentic classic size (and flat fretboard) but just not as much as a baseball bat, so switching between this and my electrics isn't confusing and I can still play bass notes on E6 with my wrapped around thumb kinda easily.
When I don't feel like playing lines, I also almost never grab a pick. Enjoying finger playing so much that I'm considering to invest some time in single note finger picking techniques (my "Apoyando" isn't even worth being called rusty anymore, and it's never been decent to start with).
Works very well in a live context, too - unfortunately, the mic part of the dual pickup system is incredibly sensible to feedback, so I went the extra mile and created a dedicated IR to use with just the piezo, which turned out to work remarkably well.

Had my prs out at rehearsal today. I never play it at home but in a band mix or live environment it kills.

Love me some Goldtop action!
:chef

They do play great. No denying it! And they sound decent enough. Just not as much
character or personality as a Strat, Tele, or Les Paul.

I have a couple Core models and I don't play them much, and can't part with them. :idk

I'm not sure about character but they're a lot more mid focused IMO which admittedly isn't the nicest sound when you're sat at home, but works great when you're at volume with a full band.

Absolutely. Can say the very same for my DGT SE - which I had huge issues with, but it pretty much turned into my #1 live player by now (I like it at home as well, but ergonomically, I prefer strat-kinda shapes when playing seated).

I think a lot of us could pick out a Telecaster or Strat in the mix, but would be hard pressed to call
out the sonic signature of a PRS. That's not me bashing PRS guitars either.

Not saying what is better or best. I just don't think PRS guitars have that indelible sonic
signature other kinds of guitars do. That might be great for some. Not so great for others. :idk

I love mine, and it holds up very very well compared to the PRS Core guitars I also have. I play the DGT more, too.

I think the pickups in the DGT SE are amazing, too. I use the Coil-tap quite a lot. Far and away the best SE model
I have come across. :beer
