Spent an hour this lazy afternoon with my 2002 Taylor 712CE. I been working out a new arrangement for my “Beatles Suite” for solo guitar, which I’ll play live in September at a small local venue. An earlier version of the suite was performed live in March and for September I’m adding two new songs. It’s a bit challenging to keep interesting without singing. Inspired by Bill Frisell, it’s intended for electric guitar with pedals, but I use the acoustic to work out the details.

Bought new as a semi-custom order, the top of this Taylor is cedar and the sides and back are Indian rosewood. I requested the stock cutaway design for this model, but without the usual electronics. Instead, I installed a K&K Pure Mini. I had it refretted after about 20 years, and more recently set up for using Thomastik-Infeld Plectrum 11s.

Although I’ve played it out at open mics and at a couple of live events at regional venues on occasion, running direct into the house PA, more recently it’s been my go to couch guitar for some impromptu playing.

Nice! Similar to my 714ce.

I uploaded a quick Piezo "acoustic clip" for shits and giggles.

We used to cover Natural Science, but I just now tried the single-note part of the intro, and I think I'm going to add that to my practice list.

I think I used to play it as 2 down, 1 up, but not as a sweeping motion, but I think practicing it as alt-picked will help with other single-note stuff better, overall.
