Finally did the deed, and put fresh strings on my Enchanted Forest Majesty, and its frets are looking..., like the guitar has been PLAYED for the 6 years I've owned it! I think it's time to look for a great tech.

And I need a new phone!

The previous time I restrung it was when I first started noticing some small divots. And these strings have been on there for at least 9 months! But even still (this guitar gets the most play of all my EBMM's), I was shocked to see what is essentially a line across most of the frets right under the D string!

WTF have I been doing to cause that?

I guess playing a lot of stuff that uses the D string.

I play one song intro that's solely on the D, but I also play others that are solely on the B, and the low E, and they don't show that wear, so IDK...

Maybe that string is set too low...?

My LP Custom took 20 years to get this kind of fret wear, and they're not SS frets. This guitar only took 6. I guess that's what happens when you favor one guitar 75% of the time, and play on average a couple hours a day. Which isn't an exaggeration.

Ya, the Reeves is superb. The biggest sounding amp I have ever played through. My Two Rock Vintage Deluxe is no slouch either with the 1x15, but the 2x12 closed back sounds huge.

Just finished a practice session with my 1970s Gibson Johnny Smith archtop. For the past few months, I had been playing a solid body only, full on electric with pedals and all, prepping for a solo performance. With that behind me, today was the first time back with the old archtop, no amp, playing acoustically only. I really missed it!

Same routine here…I do 99% of my practicing with just an archtop.

L5s are special breeds! Many great modern archtops around obviously..but in my mind these remain a category of their own.

The one I played today and actually the only (working) guitar I've owned for the last couple of years. It was a rocky start, but now it makes me like it even more after I had to "fight for it". This is an old Blacktop Stratocaster HSH. I swapped the pickguard for one ply matte, and the stock pickups for Lace Alumitone neck and bridge, Lace Sensor Tele pickup in the middle. It's a damn fun guitar that rocks.
