What Guitar Are You Playing At This Very Moment...

Soup of the day.

Today is jazz jam session day! So I'm playing my Gibson archtop to bone up on standards for this afternoon's session at a nearby venue. It's a holiday weekend here, so likely to be more people than usual. Recently, at these jams (one of several in the area) I've been the only guitarist but I think this weekend there might another, in addition to the usual pianists, bassists, drummers, horn players and vocalists. In fact, IIRC, an alto sax player will be in town this week from Tokyo to participate.

I need to play the archtop a bit now not only for refreshing jam tunes, but also because I have been playing my Gretsch Super Axe lately to prep for a solo guitar live set next month. The tone and feel of each differs, so I want to acclimate back to the archtop for today's jam session. There's another jazz jam on Wednesday night, too, so I'll be moving back and forth between those two guitars all week. It'd probably be easier to play just one main guitar, but I enjoy using different instruments.
