What artist makes you feel like you’re eating plain oatmeal?

His playing was a awesome with Johm Mayall and Cream, but his solo stuff is pretty bland.

Fleetwood Mac.
Not sure why, I can recognize the talent in the band and can even put myself back in that time frame where they were huge, but their music does nothing for me and on some days Stevie Nicks actually makes me angry with her goat vibrato.
Blink182 after Tom left. I'm not really a fan but my ex was, I could appreciate them and did find their stage banter pretty humorous back in the day, but I caught them twice with Alkaline Trio dude in Tom's place and it just fell flat. Dudes in their 40's trying to recreate the stage banter they naturally used to toss in their sets. Fortunately, Travis Barker made those shows worth it, that dude is just a beast.
Clapton definitely falls flat for me as well. Can only assume heroin took all the fun out of that dude, the Cream stuff is great but after that I get absolutely nothing from his playing. Mayer and Clapton are in the exact same box, for me, 'This is supposed to be the blues.....but nothing about this sounds blue"

I've heard others say this about Pink Floyd. They like the usual songs but just can't appreciate a whole album. I'm in the camp where every song they've done is at the very least, interesting.

I'm sure there are others, but Eric Clapton was the first that came to mind.
I never had a problem with his voice timbre. And dude had some pipes back in the day.
As for lately, holy fuck it's hard listening to him. His pitch is off quite a lot, pretty much always flat, when he misses. But when they put out the recent Ernie Ball Big Sound video, he was on, so Idk wtf the problem is. I have to think it has something to do with him being able to hear himself. And that video wasn't cut-and-pasted. I spoke with Jimmy T at the Baltimore show, and he confirmed they played each song 3x's, and picked the best one. That's it. So James can still hit the notes. Granted, he has changed some of the higher lines, but that's typical with age, and not what I'm referring to.
It's quite evident to me in the videos fans post, but hearing him live, it's hardly noticeable. But that's probably because I'm always paying attention to JP.
But, the way some fans are reacting, and the terrible things they say about him, is unacceptable, imo. Too many personal attacks against the guy.
On SFAM, James came outside to the line at The 930 Club, and had a conversation with a bunch of us about the characters portrayed in the songs. NEVER once got the feeling he needed to leave to get inside, took all our questions, just completely fucking cool for him to do that! So as a person, imho, he doesn't deserve the hate he gets.

I want to say something for the sake of being exciting, but there are some Fleetwood Mac songs that give me chills, I really loved the first couple Coldplay albums, loved the first Wilco album, etc.
I would say maybe a lot of 70's radio rock maybe? Like Kansas, Styx, Journey, etc. And then a lot of the pop rock from the 2000's and beyond was pretty bland.
Most everything in the pop, hip hop, country, jazz, classical genres is just instant off for me. Just not my thing. A lot of times it can be more nails on a chalkboard than oatmeal though.
