What Amp Are You Playing Today?

I bought mine new a few years ago now.
I did see a used Combo version for sale a while back but haven’t seen any heads.
They are excellent amps and I think people that have them tend to keep them.👍
Yeah. I've been looking for a used head, and as you note, people rarely part with them. Cool amp.

Recently picked up a 1960AV cab with the Celestion Marshall G12 Vintage speakers. Love it.

Roland JC-90, with my Gibson ES-125 plugged in and ready to play some jazz.

The JC series of amps are common here in Japan. Another venue I play at has JC-120.

Fairly versatile overall, quite loud and so for the low key gigs like this need to be tamed.

I keep the bass all the way down to reduce feedback, warm it up with a tad distortion.

A splash of reverb, but no chorus, gives me a usable tone for playing the old standards.

On the amp is the 2 volume Jazz Standard Bible something like a Real Book in Japan.

We’re playing “Like Someone in Love” and “On the Sunny Side of the Street” shortly…

I'm not looking to kick off another Blackstar hate thread but here is my gig rig. A 6l6 St James combo amp and a 2x12 matching cab. I kept it on the 2 watt setting Saturday night for the whole gig. never thought I could do that. It was direct to FOH and monitors so it was not a big deal to keep it relatively quiet. I could push the power amp that way. I use the clean channel with pedals rather than the high gain side. I used to gig with a 50 watt DSL half stack but I'm old and feeble so now I drag around a rig that weighs at most a third of what a 4x12 and full sized head weighs.

I have a St. James as well but found the hum to be excessive and unacceptable for home practice.

Does yours have the same issue? I'm trying to determine if it's a design flaw or if mine needs servicing.

Been trimming my amp collection and have started moving towards rack units (decades too late perhaps, but they are making a comeback).

Today I'm going to be running an. Engl E530 through an E840 that I scored. Will use a Knaggs Tuckahoe through them and into Mesa and Orange 2x12s with Celestion V30s in them.

This is the setup these days, most of my large 100-watt amps are gone, but I'm keeping the MKIV and Sig:X.

Which reminds me that I need to rack up these units with Axe FXIII before the leaning "tower of Pisa" comes crashing down and degloves my foot haha

I use it on the clean channel exclusively and it is very quiet. My pedalboard adds some noise but I have a noise gate on it so it is not too bad to manage. The high gain channel can be a bit noisy but every amp I have is noisy when doing high gain.

I should also add that I have the el34 version as well. I currently have it set up my recording studio (basement) with my axefx3 turbo in 4cm so I don't need to take everything apart for gigs. I use that one on the clean channel as well and use emulated pedals in front of it and time based effects in the loop. it sounds better than the regular pedalboard but is less convenient to haul around.

Alright, who actually played their rig yesterday as promised? I didn't use the Knaggs, but busted out the James Tyler Studio Elite HD-P for some thrash/death metal.crossover riffs through the E530 and E840.

Sorry for the Instagram link, whenever I upload on Youtube I get a few downvotes within a few seconds, just like others get 20k hits within a minutes. The algorithm then buries me hahaha
