What Amp Are You Playing Today?

I’m itching to get home to the-

(Not my pic, OG owner sent it to me when we made the trade)

Last night I plugged the TD-7 (PastFX Tube Driver) and the EJ Fuzz Face into it and :chef when it comes to the Tube Driver but the Fuzz Face I had a hard time getting to sound great, it’s like the amp can’t get bright enough and whatever settings I set the amp to are horrible for playing with the FF off.

Also, my Dry Bell Vibe really fucks with it. I need to study the whole buffer/non-buffered aspect of these things to get a better understanding of them. You’d think everyone would make these two things automatically play well together since a Vibe and a Fuzz Face is like the Reese’s Peanut Butter cup of effects.

Going Uberschall module into the KSR atm.

Big booty chugs in the room, but trying to find the right setup to track with the pair and not smother in the low end.

The Uberschall is ridiculously overkill, and ridiculously awesome. :ROFLMAO:

Man, I don’t remember you getting the KSR? I’m trying to decide on the Fryette PowerStation or that KSR right now.

I’ve had it for a few weeks now. I was itching to try one after they released a rack version. It’s badass dude. I havent fool with the hi-fi mode with a modeler, but it’s working a treat with my preamps.

Do the synergy modules lead to the mindset of "I want the real thing"?

Dude I’m back to staring at the cart on a multi-watt, and considering just getting a DRECT module to satisfy the urge.

You have the Fryette, too, don’t you?

I have an LXII. I haven’t done a direct shootout between them, but id consider the LXII a little more clean and neutral in character.

I can try to throw a couple riffs through them both this weekend and share.

Even though I generally prefer my modulation before dirt, the vibe always has to come after the FF or you will lose the interaction with your guitar pickups. If you’re already running the vibe after the FF then disregard, I’m not sure what’s up. If you’re intentionally running a buffer into the FF and need to keep it that way probably disregard this post totally.

As far as the dark/muddiness, that’s generally how I perceive a full bore FF. As you roll back guitar volume (even like 1 notch) you should get a brighter, more cutting version of that tone. A lot of FF guys just leave them on all the time and work the guitar volume.

You can oversaturate very easily if you’re Superlead’s front panel volume is cranked to high.

TBF I’m not using them a ton.

That's my problem right there. I'm knee deep in ODs and fuzzes so am almost always using one.

Until I got my JVM I was primarily using fenders as clean pedal platforms and needed the drive pedals, now the few times I go straight into the amp I keep asking myself "why do I have these again?
If I'm honest with myself I probably really only need a boost, a fuzz and a delay at most.

I got my keyboard stand for my pedal board yesterday, mostly put together but need some cable management still.

I have gut issues and if I bend over for even a few minutes I get sick so I need it up off the floor.

Today is a bit of volume matching day and get the Morley ABCY set up with the PowerStage for the preamp pedals and the modelers so all but the Recto today, the PwerStage is the 8th amp for the switch.

Ahhhh thanks!! I have the Dry Bell in front of the FF. I'll swap them around and see how it goes. I thought I had read vibes only like being first in line and I think I just ran with it. I'm also probably going to grab one of those Axxess Unbuffers just to rid any issues in general. These will all be going into a Morningstar loop switcher and I just want shit to work. :rofl

I agree in regard to Fuzz Faces, but even the FF guys say the EJ FF is dark AF. I think EJ just hates treble in general when it comes to distorted tones. :ROFLMAO:

Don't worry about it on my account! Whichever poweramp I get will have to have an effects loop on it and I wasn't up to par on the Fryette models until I just looked it up. It's a toss up between the KSR PA100 or the Fryette Powerstation now.

The first time I built an EJ fuzz face I thought I'd messed up somewhere because it was so dark. After building it again and getting the same result I got to try a real one and realised that's just how he likes it. I definitely prefer the JHF1.
