Tbh kind of feel this way…

Ever growing corporate oligarchies suck but they’ve already been out of the roots for a bit now. “Marshall amplification (based out of Sweden)” as the start of the article kinda gave me a chuckle lol
 
There’s always hope though, even Gibson was already a cash out “in name only” company prior to its “golden era” :cop

+1 Maybe it will be a good thing. It's not like they had a banner year in 2024. Pricing finally went down but getting product was challenging here in the states.

Or they will Wh*re it out and sell off everything Gordan Gekko style.

Either way, Wang Amps look pretty good that @GuitarBilly74 mentioned. I may get a 1987 one day to screw around with.

It's less that it's being sold again, and more that it's being sold to a venture capital firm. Venture capital usually tries to extract as much money as possible over a short time window without any regard for the long-term health of the business. Just doesn't bode well.

Yeah I fully expect a company like that to just drive the amp business to ground and keep offering headphones and BT speakers.

Marshall, the amp company, feels like there's nobody with vision at the wheel. Their big new announcements this year are cheap distortion pedals, overpriced modded amps and a JCM900 Studio version that is likely to appeal to nobody but people nostalgic for their first "real" amps back in the day. All that feels like they missed the boat by 5-10 years.

I know that’s not as fun as triggering random members into political debates in public forums, but there are plenty of places to go for that if that’s the itch that needs to be scratched.
