Well All Right

Periodically we are faced with the reminder that we are standing defiantly on the opposite side of the generation gap, and it’s a pretty huge chasm. But that’s okay, because our parents viewed our music the same way, and these younger players will eventually wind up where we are today when looking at the stuff THEIR kids are doing.

This is why I love metal riffs; the “No More Tears” riff is just as badass today as it was in ‘92, “Cowboys From Hell” might even have gotten more badass over time, “Empire” riff never gets old, “Master Of Puppets”, “Reign In Blood”…..all the way up to modern Gojira and Mastodon riffs that will be just as badass in 30 years as they are today.

The beep boop slide pop natural harmonic slide thing, I predict will be able to be dated to a specific period, like nu-metal riffs or djent riffs, or happy sounding solos in 80’s metal tunes.

You say that (and I wholeheartedly agree), but people in their teens and twenties would likely view those songs as “old people music.” Of course the whiny little snowflake bitches would be dead wrong, but they wouldn’t think so…

This thread reads like an old-ass guy looking at Life in the rearview mirror created it. :knit

So. Predictable.

:rofl

This is why this sort of inter-generational cultural warfare is so damn boring.... and as predictable as gravity.

Next!

My current favourite band is a band I didn't know even existed in 2024. Yes,
they have been around for an hot minute, but I didn't know that. They are
new to me and I have been listening to them every damn day. :headbang

Imagine if Nature stopped sowing seeds and living for the next generation.
Where would we all be? Not here that's for sure. #rhetorical

Be like Nature and scatter more seeds..... versus pissing on them. :pee

Know your audience. The people here are predominantly over forty, with a penchant for Mesa, Fractal, and music from the nineties and back.

In that context, my post was not trolling the whiny little bastards, as there aren’t any here to get trolled. It was a humorous stab at a faceless stereotype that was intended to generate a chuckle or two from our curmudgeonly brethren.

Now git off our lawn.
