I’ve had similar internal debates, I don’t blame you. I’m barely using modeling anymore and when I do it’s captures of my own amps. I have almost no use case for a multi effects unit these days. There’s a Mark VII locally that I’ve been eyeing since before I even preordered the Stadium XL that keeps looking more and more enticing.
Yeah, I’m slowly drifting back to just enjoying playing amps more and more, so my internal debate was “What is going to get you more pumped up to turn on” which kind of answered itself. Ha
Makes sense. The 1.1 version will share A LOT of sonics with Helix Floor, so if you've already counted it out as not being up there with current firmware FAS.....I predict some remorse.
I did shootout after shootout of my FM9 with my current Helix to make sure I wasn't just plunking down for this out of hype, and I was able to duplicate the vast majority of my preferred FAS tones, while also discovering a lot of great Line 6/Catalyst originals and factory cabs I'd otherwise dismissed.
Yeah I’m not too worried about tones, it’s more the new features. I was kind of pumped to load backing tracks, using the stem splitting for custom drum backing tracks, the DI loading etc. Kind of turning it into a standalone practice/multimedia jam device. (Which is going to friggin rock btw) I have full trust Line 6 is going to deliver, but I think without those feature I might be more inclined to obsess over the dumb shit. Might be better to be patient and jump in when it’s flexing it’s full feature set and I can have a proper first impression.
