VirgoTwin is a software simulation that brings to life one of the most iconic American clean amplifiers of the mid-’60s, faithfully capturing its unmistakable shimmering clarity, immense headroom, and musical dynamics — while adding the flexibility and precision of modern digital engineering.
Built around four independent circuits, VirgoTwin offers a wide tonal palette that ranges from pure, glassy cleans to harmonically rich vintage textures.

NORMAL Channel
The NORMAL channel delivers the wide-open clean tone that made this style of amplifier a studio and stage staple.
Expect:
  • Huge headroom and minimal breakup
  • Bold low end, airy highs, and a scooped midrange
  • A touch-sensitive response that stays articulate even with complex chords
Perfect for players who want maximum clarity and a rock-solid foundation for pedals.

NORMAL DELUXE Mode
Activating DELUXE mode transforms the voice of this channel, shifting toward the warmer, more mid-forward personality of another legendary small-to-medium American combo from the same era.
This mode offers:
  • Earlier, smoother breakup
  • Richer mids and sweeter highs
  • A more intimate, organic response
Ideal edge-of-breakup tones with a distinctly vintage attitude

VIBRATO Channel
The VIBRATO channel mirrors the classic clean voice but introduces an additional gain stage, offering slightly more grit, presence, and harmonic bloom when pushed.
This channel also integrates two Spring Reverb types:
  • Basic – Shorter, tighter, more restrained
  • Standard – Fuller, longer, and more immersive
  • Both modes can be set to mono or stereo, enabling everything from subtle ambience to wide, enveloping soundscapes.
This channel also integrates a warm, pulsating Tremolo. There are four types of Standard Tremolo: Sinusoidal, Triangular, Exponential and Optical.

VIBRATO DELUXE Mode
Here too, DELUXE mode reshapes the feel and response of the channel, drawing inspiration from one of the most beloved vintage American combos known for its dynamic crunch and expressive midrange.
You get:
  • More pronounced breakup
  • A spongier, more responsive feel
  • Harmonic saturation ideal for blues, roots, and classic rock tones
Reverb and Tremolo are also available for this mode.

Non-Plus-Ultra Preamp
Non-Plus-Ultra Preamp represents the perfect approach to circuit modeling. VirgoTwin preamp features a built-from-scratch 64-bit engine which is based on general purpose hi-quality algorithms and the most recent non-linear models. Particular attention has been put on the definition of the Non-Linear Solver to get the maximum quality and realism, without losing details in favor of performances (Double-Precision Non-Linear Computing).

Our non-plus-ultra reproductions bring a completely new philosophy to the table: being able to shape your tone by giving total access to the circuit components. Managing each gain stage level, shaping the tone-stacks or modifying the tubes characteristics: there is virtually no limit to what you can achieve with our plugins!

Power Amp Clipping & Headroom
The HEADROOM section lets you shape the behavior of the power stage, from clean headroom to full saturation.
You can define how and when the power amp starts to clip, choose different clipping characters, and adjust the interaction between pre and post gain stages.

Pwr/Cabs: Non-Linear Convolution
As DiBiQuadro we implemented our own version of Non-Linear Convolution (NLC) to reproduce all the final stages of a miked amplifier. We use to call Pwr/Cab a chain made of:
  • a tube power amp
  • a cabinet/speaker
  • a microphone
  • and a high-end studio preamp
This chain is sampled as a unique block to preserve the correct interaction between the specific power amp and the speakers. Our 64-bit (double precision) NLC engine allows up to 40 kernels (harmonics). In addition, a complete set of parameters allows the full control over the power amp headroom, the type of clipping and the interaction of the negative feedback with the Presence knobs.
The proprietary solutions just described are grouped under a common acronym: DNC+ (Double-Precision Non-Linear Computing and Convolution).

VirgoTwin is delivered with 6 Pwr/Cabs. The power amp is 85 Watt with 4x6L6 tubes. Pwr/Cabs include one open-back cabinet with 2 C12K speakers.

Shaper
The input signal can be processed by activating a shaper before the preamp. This block allows to select one of the following:
  • Low Cut
  • Mid Boost
  • Graphic Equalizer
  • Parametric Equalizer
  • Compressor

Wah, Overdrive & Distortion — Fully Tweakable!
All DiBiQuadro amp simulations include the following effects, fully tweakable at component level:
  • A beautifully voiced Wah effect. The frequency parameter can also be automated via your DAW.
  • An Overdrive with two modes: TS (symmetric clipping) and SD (asymmetric clipping).
  • A Distortion with three modes: MDP (Distortion+ style), and 250/308 (Classic Preamp) modes.
Both Overdrive and Distortion allow to select the type of diode (Silicon vs Germanium)
The diode characteristic and topology (only positive, only negative, one against one) can also be modified.

The Renderer
The Renderer is a stand-alone application to process an input wave file in OffLine mode. It can be invoked via command line too. Its purpose is to render long and processing demanding configurations (e.g. high upsampling).

It amazes me that in 2026, people still don’t have the gray matter between their ears to realize people don’t like spam shit like this.

I was thinking as I read it, “At one point in time, I learned about a new modeling platform from a newer member of a forum and it was the AxeFX”, but I also recall Cliff participating in conversations before and after he started talking about the AxeFX and that was like 2006 or something, well, well before people were home brewing IR’s and plugins and signing up to forums to promote them with their first post.

We should have an SOP for these, or maybe mix it up annually and have a poll to decide what we do with first-post spam the first week of a new year.
