Using my Laney IRT 60 with headphones, but without a cab

Is there a way to use my Laney IRT 60 head with headphones but without a cab?

The Laboga 2x12 I have is super heavy and I live on the 3rd floor (basement is ground floor and that's where the cab mostly is stored when not used for practice).

So I just want to bring the head upstairs and be able to play through my DT770 headphones with my fav IRs.

Short Edit: There's a IRT60 version out there, that has a DI/EMU OUT. Mine is the older gen, that doesn't have that.

You will need a load box or an attenuator with a load setting connected to the amp. You can either get one with built-in IR capability or just get a passive one and take a line out to your computer to apply the IR.

I want one with built in IR and a headphone out. So I can just turn on the IRT and the loadbox and be playing at 2am without waking the family.

I could use the Helix or VSTs then, but... tubes and physical switches are fun.

If you have a Helix you could just route the loadbox into the Helix and then have all the post effects goodness. I do this setup with my amp + VP4, but I also use an audio interface for headphone use if I want to do that (you wouldn’t need that, the VP4 has no stereo headphone out)

Got an FX loop on the amp? Make a capture of the power amp, put it on a Tonex One or similar and just connect that in the loop. Try it out with an audio interface first so you know how it works.

Preamp knobs function as usual and you have a bit of thump from the power amp capture. Plus IR’s, some post FX and headphone out on the Tonex One. Costs way less than a good reactive load. Of course not the same as running full but I find it’s an OK tradeoff for headphones.

I do this with NAM right now but might cave and get a Tonex One.

Yeah that's the ideal scenario. I have the Suhr Reactive Load IR and love it.
The Two Notes Captor X is cool too
