The Tele(phone) Is Ringing! Happy 75th Birthday Old Friend

I have tided myself over with a 50s Vintera II in Sonic Blue, SO, while I contemplate wallet
homocide for something else. :stirthepot:knit:grin

It came last week and I am pretty smitten with it. It has the early 50s U shaped neck and that
Maple Neck and Fretboard---which right now is where my ears are at. I need all the SNAP!I can get.

My Phone/Camera is older than me!!! :lol
That’s one of the best things Fender makes for the money. I prefer it to the Am pro 2. Pickups for teles is an interesting one because one of my favourites is the Abby nocaster that is about 9k but also the antiquity Duncan at only 6.5k they both have great depth. The BK boot camps are insanely good at no money but they don’t look stock .
I still need pickups for my black guard. I actually have a 55 bridge pickup that needs rewinding but it has raised DG poles so I may not use it on my 52 build . I should send it to Tim at BK to rewind it for me because even a rewind is about £3k these days.
decisions.🤣

Playing my LP a lot again the past few days reminds me of two things about Teles

  1. I always wish I could do the thing I love on the LP in the middle position where I bump the neck volume down a notch. I miss that sound a lot when I play a Tele
  2. I think there’s a strong chance a ‘70s Deluxe might be the perfect guitar for me and I really need to try one someday

I had a Princeton which unfortunately had to go in the great purge when I moved the family back to Norn Iron. I'll definitely get another one at some point. It was a great little grab and go amp for jam sessions and playing at home.

Oh man! I know the purge to buy a home, and then to buy the children vehicles, and then to get them graduated,
and then to get them off and married.

Tired of sticking my finger down my Gear Throat at this point!

Hope you can get a Princeton back someday. :chef

I am kind of stricken with the small amp bug at the moment.

That's freaking awesome, Andy! I had no idea. :idk

Some of the new 75th Anniversary Vinteras are pushing $2k here in the States now. And that
new John Osbourne Sig with the B Bender and MIM is $2k.

Kind of makes the leap up to $3k for a used Custom Shop here in the States a no-brainer.

I am super happy with the 50s Vintera. For now. It keeps the fire at bay and I can be
selective in the Tele hunting expedition.

Is this “ The” Tele ? It’s a 53 and it’s definitely seen a bit of action. If not this what Tele ? For me I just like the guitar it is something that I came back too over the years. It’s so simple and sounds so pure . So simple in fact that if you change a small part you can hear the difference. The hardware even though basic has no castings and everything makes the instrument ring. Still the most modern guitar ever invented.

I was looking at Tele’s on GC”s website yesterday and immediately thought of Dave when this one popped up-

The name of it got me wondering how much “50’s” were involved with it…..apparently just the “heirloom nitro”, ‘51 single coils and blackguard aspect.

Practically nothing beyond a “vibe”. The important features that make a Blackguard sound the way it does are basically missing.
