The Tele(phone) Is Ringing! Happy 75th Birthday Old Friend

My favorite guitar of all time. I love how some hit like a sledgehammer, and others are bright and sparkly. I am partial to the 52 style, unfortunately I'll never be able to afford a real one, hence all the copies, lol. I just started playing with a new band and I'm stoked to be able to gig the Teles again.

I miss the fun and games of having young children in the house. I truly believe they
help to keep us young and more fit. Mostly.

I have never wanted an early 50s Tele.... but do now and am
looking at everything from the '52 Reissue to a Nocaster. My
own playing style preference is maximum dynamic range
and I am not sure there is a fiddle that offers a greater dynamic
range than a 50s (No/Broad/Tele)Caster. :unsure:
 
I don’t currently own a Tele, but snagged this Tele that a friend built for our singer/rhythm guitarist. Very light weight and a thin neck, so it is a perfect fit for her.

I don't like tiny/narrow frets either. But I want a period correct Telecaster with all the
limitations so they can force me to to adapt. I hate playing the same way on EVERY different
guitar type. It's like a curse I want to avoid at all costs.

That's why I first decided to take only a Tele to band practice a couple of weeks ago, and only play that
for the entire night, including songs across a wide spectrum and from E standard to Drop C.

It ended up blowing me away. In a good way.

Several things were harder to do, and yet somehow more fun and inspiring. :idk

Sometimes a Les Paul would combine with the Bass amp (on my side of the room) and
it would create a muddy mess. The Telecaster just sliced through and sounded amazing.
And it was harder for me to play and coax any sustain out of it, and I enjoyed the challenge.

Ya know, that makes total sense. My Orville has pretty small frets on it and while I want to put med/jumbo's on it, it's so I CAN play it like my other guitars, even though that's not why I bought it originally. :rofl I do want a more classic LP Standard, just not that one.
 
I’ve got a AVRI 52 Tele. I love it. It’s my only Tele but it does everything I would want a Tele to do. It also does great through a Marshall style amp for harder rocking sounds. The Tele bridge pickup is a thing of beauty. Twang and spank. Just hits right. Yeah the vintage radius and vintage small frets aren’t my favorite but again, minor flaws and shortcomings. Gives the instrument character. And I love the brass barrel saddles intonation be damned.
