Oh man, I see some "Help me find a Telecaster!" threads, but not really finding a All Things Telecaster thread. :idk

Could this be one? I don't know. :unsure:

I do know I am smitten once again with the Telecaster (and yes, there is only one legit version).

I may be doing some shopping. Not jiving with my Rosewood board MIJ Tele and want something
that sounds more like what I think/want a Telecaster to sound like. Gimme that Mapleboard snap!

I'll end up with a vintage 50's Spec Telecaster, including the radius, and unintonatable saddles. I love
inherent flaws. We all have them. :lol

I’m largely with ya on the ‘there’s only one Tele’, but there’s no way I’m dealing with vintage frets. I’m not as anti-7.25 when bigger frets come into the equation.

That said, I’d love a Black Beauty Tele; gloss black body/headstock, gold hardware/pickup covers and block inlays on an ebony board. Have no desire for a Black Beauty Strat, but a Tele would be sick.

What got me really wanting a Tele was Brad Paisley’s tone on his episode of Shreddin’ With Shifty. Dude just hits a low E and it’s like, DAAAAAMN that’s HUGE and still sounded undeniably like a Tele, just with one frickin note! The amp wasn’t even mic’d up for the episode, it was his camera picking it up.

And Gilmour’s use of the neck pickup when soloing.

I’ve heard a Tele was the guitar Vox used as a reference when they were creating the AC30 and that tracks with me because to me it’s the best pairing of amp + guitar in the world

I don't like tiny/narrow frets either. But I want a period correct Telecaster with all the
limitations so they can force me to to adapt. I hate playing the same way on EVERY different
guitar type. It's like a curse I want to avoid at all costs.

That's why I first decided to take only a Tele to band practice a couple of weeks ago, and only play that
for the entire night, including songs across a wide spectrum and from E standard to Drop C.

It ended up blowing me away. In a good way.

Several things were harder to do, and yet somehow more fun and inspiring. :idk

Sometimes a Les Paul would combine with the Bass amp (on my side of the room) and
it would create a muddy mess. The Telecaster just sliced through and sounded amazing.
And it was harder for me to play and coax any sustain out of it, and I enjoyed the challenge.

Also, I am almost 75. So.... :idk

10 years ago if I took one guitar to a jam or rehearsal it was a les paul. For the last 4 years it's been a tele instead.
