The obsession with blind tests:

In my mind blind tests used to be usefull to prove that the tech delivers. Today I’m not even remotely interested anymore….cause we know the outcome when it concerns a couple of well established brands.
I think the group of people still disputing the maturity of the tech, mix up what the blind test proves with their personal usecase. Iow..the whole apples to apples/miced sound into fullrange versus actual cab.

Hmm…maybe we need some blind tests of analog preamps versus captures of it, both into poweramp/cab….to move some souls to the dark side of digital ;)

It won’t matter, they’ll still pretend to notice a difference after the fact even if they’re wrong at the beginning.

I think some people have forgotten that about 20-some years ago, modeling did suck.

And let's not conveniently forget that modeling is/was trying to copy tube amps, not the other way around, so an exemplar/paragon is set.

Today, the modeling technology has drastically improved to the point of, say 99% accurate, and you can't tell in a mix.

I use both. And I'm glad modeling tech is where it's at today, because I only have so many NOS Mullards in my t00b stash...
