Hey everyone, just wanted to share my current endgame "Big Clean" rig. It's built around that stereoscopic, massive headroom D-style sound that so many of us chase. It’s been a journey of tweaking, modding, and curating, but it finally feels complete.
The Amp & Cab:
• Amplified Nation Six String Sustain: Hand-wired D-style circuit. This thing is the definition of clean sustain and dynamics. The high-headroom percussive clean sound is everything I hoped for.
• Peavey 212-6 Convertible Cab: (Used in open-back configuration).
• Speaker Upgrade: Stock speakers were swapped for Warehouse Guitar Speakers (WGS) ET65s. I find these add a beautiful creamy compression to the top end that tamers some of the inherent brightness of the high-headroom amp.
The Guitar:
This started as a Fender Player II Stratocaster (Maple fretboard). It was a great platform that I decided to push to "Masterbuilt" levels.
• Pickups: Upgraded to Fender Custom Shop Fat '60s. Love the overwound punch and woody mid-range.
• Aesthetics/Feel: Reliced it myself for that played-in feel and look. Added all gold hardware, including a vintage-style tremolo upgrade.
• Upgrades: Completely gutted the electronics for high-tolerance CTS pots and a professional setup.
• The Nut: Had a Bone Nut professionally cut, which I feel significantly helped with tuning stability and open-string articulation.
The Pedalboard:
I keep the Six String Sustain crystal clean and use my board for all the textures and breakup.
• Tuner: D'Addario Pedal Tuner (need upgrade)
• Modulation/Filter: Dunlop Cry Baby Wah
• Dynamics/Boost: Keeley Compressor Plus -> Xotic Katana Boost (mini)
• Overdrives (The Fun Part): Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini (TS-spec mid-push) -> Wampler Tumnus (mini) (K-Style always-on sweetener) -> J. Rockett The Dude (D-style breakup) -> Friedman BE-OD (high-gain option)
• Modulation/Time/Space: MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay -> TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 Reverb (Plate setting for atmosphere) -> Boss RC-5 Loop Station
• Power: Donner Power Supply (underneath).
Thanks for looking. This setup is incredibly responsive and gets that "edge of breakup" feel just by working the Strat’s volume knob and changing pick attack.
Thanks for viewing my first post guys!
