The “always on” pedal trap

So after first practice with the ikon archer I can see this pedal being like an 80% of the time on pedal with the gain off

Which… also I gotta say makes me almost want two klones on my board because I also really like how it sounds with the gain turned up as well

Always wanted to try the 29 pedals stuff. Anyone using or gone through a EUNA or OAMP? They seem to have a die hard “always on” following.

It's my favourite drive pedal because I love what it does to my Marshall. I run my gain between 4 and 6 o'clock depending on the guitar I use.

"Always on" for me is a Metal Zone or hi-gain preamp, I don't really do subtlety when it comes to guitar. I'd like to explore subtle nuances, but as soon as I hear fat distortion, I'm all in and can't just stop chugging.

Fulltone 2B is always on, boost turned down all the way. Maybe it's the little dynamics knob set at around 2 o'clock that gives a very subtle but pleasing enhancement of tones.

In spite of what I said in the OP, not a DynaComp to be found on the board going to this weeks shows. No always on pedals for this one

I can relate in the sense that I’m kind of «scared» of getting too used to having a nice compressor first in the chain. I don’t know, I guess I’m worried getting too used to the way it changes the dynamics might mess with my fingerspitzengefühl or something.

It most definitely can. I'd never use one in a Blues Band, or where a really broad range of
playing dynamics, sensitivity, and volume changes are needed.

Strummy cleans? Hell yeah. Not enough people use a comp there. Pad down them transients
dammit!

For me it all comes down to what tools best serve the ultimate goal, in the context of the music
being played, and the setting it is being played in. It all depends.

Nice! The 1st experience with a Klon/Klone as a Tone Sweetener is some heady stuff.

I am loathe to say this, but I think that is actually it's best use, and the way most
use it. The world's most expensive and hyped pedal sweetener.

Not to say it is not used as on OD/Boost.... just that my experience in talking to
others over the years is that there is some Mojo in the Gain down, Tone and Volume
to taste.
You can also experiment with it AFTER all of your other pedals.

I will forgive you for not using an always on pedal just because you get to play live and I not. Because that makes you an “always on” dude.

Was that weird? Yes that is weird. Because i sometimes say nonsense things that make no sense.
