Who makes the best early Telecaser repro pickups?
I want to make sure I am not missing anything.
The other criteria is it must look stock original.
I have a 55 bridge pickup that needs rewinding and I could get Tim(BK) to fix it but it has raised GD poles and should be 7k ish alnico 5 42awg . Early ones are alnico 3 slightly larger poles and 43awg.

I have an Abby nocaster set in this one .
The 55 will probably sound great but not strictly correct.

I've been told that Marc's are pretty accurate to original spec.

His 52 spec is not the early version with bigger alnico 3 magnets or 43awg.
Fenders 50/51 hand wound has in but I’m looking for options but there aren’t many that go for the original spec Tele bridge pickup. The Joe Bonamassa Duncan set is right but custom shop only these days.
I can hear alnico 5 in a bridge position and not usually in a good way. There are always exceptions though. Old mid 50 original pickups sound great but repros with the same specs not so much. It’s difficult to get right.

i think my mare 0038 is pretty close- its got a3, 43 ga wire, the rolled steel baseplate, and puts out about 10.4k. its SUCH a thick beast without the gnarly kank and just peels paint with harmonics!

I wouldn't know the first thing about how vintage Tele pickups are supposed to sound, but I'm very happy with the tones I'm getting from Cavalier Pickups.

So might be worth checking if something in their catalog is a match or contacting them.

I have a set of hand wound 50/51s Josephina’s on route. Because they are the most accurate from a spec and construction standpoint. Alnico 3 43awg and 9.7k bridge . ( no I didn’t pay £600) .

I should probably get Tim to fix my original 55 and sell it . It would pay for my whole Blackguard build.

That's the same spec as the Cavalier pickup I got for my tele, still the best pickup I've tried in it. Perfect blend of twang and some midrange muscle.

If you were in the US I would recommend calling Lindy Fralin and having a conversation with him. He does custom stuff all the time.

Yes , the right grunt and sparkle when you want it. These have great depth and my 0.047 phone book cap is a great match for a fully usable tone control.

Lots to do but I will take my time and go bit by bit to finish it . I can play it while most of it gets done and I will probably find a more convincing bridge from the perspective of the stamp. I also want a 52sn stamped. The one on is a Fender us vintage reissue.

Almost nobody does the slightly bigger diameter early poles and I wanted that to be right. All the little details add up Ime.
