Solar new headless guitars

Just saw this. Ola said in a recent video that there would never be headless Solar guitars but here they are.



Very aggressive pricing on these and they will definitely compete to some degree with Strandberg. I’m torn on how i feel about this, especially as a Swede. Still, pretty different price brackets and all. Will be interesting to hear more about them.

I think they look cool pretty cool.
Strandberg weren't the first to do headless, and Solar aren't the first to go the cheap(er) headless route.
I think it's a compliment to the design / shape, just like everyone has made a strat copy.

I definitely see this as a positive, rather than a negative.

The headless thing ain’t for me, but he’d be silly not to do one with Solar. He also said he’d never do a Gibson shape a few months before their LP shape came out, so anything he says in the future as “We won’t do….” is probably a good indicator they ARE doing it.

Now I just wish they WOULDN’T move the pickup selector on their E and X types to above the neck pickup on their body, rather than keeping it on the lower horn about 10ft from my hand. (They do on that dude from The Haunted, the other dude, his sig model)

What's odd about Solar top level guitars with fret markers all seem to be sigs with OBNOXIOUS fret markers. Like he went to Wylde Guitars school of thought immediately. Patrick Jensen model firmly included, iirc. Kirk Windstein model is the same I believe?

Yeah, I wonder if they’re chosen from a book or something at the Cort factory (where Solar, Schecter and Wylde Audio are made). There’s one Kirk model that has block inlays that I love, until the 12th fret and then it’s that fleur de lis thing that I don’t dig.

I wish this didn’t have the eagle/bird at the 12th fret, these are pretty slick, IMO-

I love everything about this. Even the eagle inlay. The fleur de lis thing on the other one is :wat but I get why Kirk wants it :satan

I actually had the Marzi Montezarri Washburn of this model for a hot second. The Floyd on it was whacked out and combined with my, well; you know; it went right back to the vendor.

I don’t hate the color at all, but I’m on the fence about it. The one Ola used in the last Sunday With Ola looked pretty damn good. I just hate the dot inlays PLUS the Solar inlay, makes it look too busy.

I’m hoping something occurs where they add the Sustainer to an X-Type because that’d get two birds stoned at once for me.
 
I always wished Ola would come up with a headless! Finally!

I do need a 6-string, and I will definitely own one soon!

But... As I haven't bought from Solar yet, or anything from abroad, how much would it cost to bring it in stateside nowadays?

I think it cost me $60 back in '21 but no clue what the recent changes to the whole import thing we don't discuss here has added to the scenario. ChatGPT'ing it doesn't give the most specific answer, either.

That said, I just realized these things are dirt cheap!!!
