Small pedal haul and living room Plexi fun

I snagged an SD-1 off of Craigslist today. I’m going to see how it sounds going into my RK50. Just plugged it into the Mark V:25 clean channel to test it out and I was actually surprised how nice it was sounding as an actual overdrive. I was expecting it to be more harsh but it’s pretty smooth. Going to enjoy putting it through its paces.

That was my exact expectation; harsh and thin. Quite surprised to find it was neither! I know I've used one of these before but it had to have been a long ass time ago.

Mine doesn't look quite as much like Lady Gaga's purse as Drew's, but it still brings a lot of fun!

The more I play with mine (huhuhu) the more I realize I’d prefer to have it with a momentary switch as I really only toss it on a few notes and then click it off again. I also decided I’m going to get a Fulltone Ultimate Octave and the Lovepedal Believe just because the size of the Foxy is pretty fucking huge for an effect I might utilize every now and then. The Fulltone is quite small in comparison and the Believe is even smaller (and generally $55-$75 used).

That said, I’d still love to get my hands on a Roger Mayer spaceship Octavia just because I think those are as cool as Fuzz Faces.

Worth checking if some of the EarthQuaker Devices fuzzes trip your trigger as I think they all have their "flexiswitches" that can be momentary or full switching on the fly.

This!

Their new Fuzz Master General "Legacy Reissue" has the Flexi switch and is a rad'n'raunchy octave monster straight from the bowels of hell. No surprise, since it's in the Super Fuzz family.

Ge and Si modes sound gnarly AF, while the third mode takes the clipping out, which means it's much louder but also cleaner. Versatile enough and I love the momentary/latching dual-action footswitch.

PSA: they're limited to 1600 and after that will probably be gone forever. Grab one while you can! 😁

One of my dog’s nicknames is Floof Master General, I may buy one just because of that! :rofl

…That’s the one thing that I really do miss//love about pedals/analog gear; the interaction between them when stacking them up. You tend to forget the unexpected stuff that happens in that world when you’ve been doing everything via modeler for a while. Almost all of these sounds great stacked together, but the Vintage Modern after either the SD-1 or Tchula is such a killer fucking lead tone.

YES! This is one of the places I think digital has a lot of room to grow/improve. Analog pedals stack and layer with each other so nicely. They meld together in these awesome ways that just don’t seem to work in digital land. With digital modelers they always seem to sort of layer on top of each other instead of melting together.

Strats+Marshalls are like Teles+AC30s: :chef
