Hi @santiall , I recently bought a used JVM 410HJS in excellent condition. I love the quality of this amp. One question I have is about the clean channel in green mode. My understanding is the channel volume pot for that channel does not apply for the green mode. When the gain is set around 12 o'clock, master volume at 3 o'clock, I noticed a light but still noticeable static noise in the green mode (changes in level with the gain setting), but as soon as I switch to orange mode (channel volume at 3), that base noise is gone at the same gain setting. If the channel volume is at 12 o'clock, their noise levels are similar. Not sure if this is normal/expected. The amp is connected to an 4x12 1960A.

Hi, I wouldn't worry too much. Since that mode doesn't have the volume active all th enoise that might be generated in the preamp will pass through withough being attenuated by the channel volume. Master at 3 is VERY loud too.
You may want to try a different input tube to see if that improves, if it bothers you of course.

Thank you so much for confirming. It doesn't bother me, just wanted to understand the different behavior between the modes. It's an amazing amp, really love it. I feel so fortunate to own one.

It doesn’t. It only has static when a guitar cable is plugged into a jack. It doesn’t matter which of the 4 (2 clean & 2 reverb jacks). I’ve changed guitar cables and guitars. I’ve run straight from my guitar to the amp bypassing my pedal board. I’ve zeroed out tone and volume controls. I checked speaker connections and the jack from the speaker to the cabinet back. I’m not sure how to check the tubes to be sure they’re seated correctly. None seem loose to me. Still the same.

hmm, now that's interesting. Everything would point to a faulty cable... having the cable connected to a guitar with the volume at zero should be the same as not having the cable connected to the input at all. It should be a shorcircuit from signal to ground.

What speakers were ultimately used in that video and on the 2011 tour? (Vintage 30 / Greenback / Heritage / other)
And what tubes are installed in the model used by Slash (6550GT and ECC83S)?

tubes... I don't remember the exact types but the 6550 were most likely Russian, probably Svetlana/SED, and the ECC83 most likely a blend of Shuguangs and JJs. It's been too many years to remember those details....
The speakers are 100% Vintage 30, Slash was playing only V30s by then.
 
Do you have any clue why whenever I import NAM files, they sound nothing like they're supposed to, I only have an IR input slot, but from everything else that I've read it should do the same exact thing as long as it's a nam file, I use the Sonicake pocket master btw

Hi, I am not familiar at all with the device but what the manual says is that you should load the NAM file into the amp module, changing it to 'clone', not sure loading it in the IR slot would work...

Also, should I save up for the neural DSP tim henson archetype, or should I get I different plugin? I'm trying to get a unique tone for my band

Hi, yes, you are probably overthinking haha... I'm not too familiar with A7X myself, I know that they used JVMs several years ago but I think a 5150 or a boosted Rectifier with V30 speakers will get you in the ballpark.
Plugins... I can't advice there, just try them and try to find what you actually like and feel comfortable with!

i play a Marshall JVM 410 HJS Joe Satriani Signature with my pedalboard. My loop switcher is a Electro Harmonix Super Switcher (4 cable method).

I have a problem with the Midi CC, maybe you could help me! :giggle:
I hope I can describe my problem well with my English, which is not THAT good.

So: As far as I know the HJS supports PC AND CC.
I want to configure it that 1 Switch from the Super Switcher acts like a global ON/OFF Switch for the Noise Gate of the JVM while I'm on the "Preset mode" of the Super Switcher.
For example:
1. I play in the preset mode on preset 1 where OD Red and the Noise Gate from the Marshall is engaged.
2. Then I want a button on the Super Switcher (for example button "8") which would turn off the gate without changing anything else.
3. When I hit button "8" again -> i want to engage the noise gate again.
4. If i play later on preset 2 where OD Green and the Noise Gate is engaged, I want to disengage the Noise Gate when i hit button "8" again. Nothing else should be changed.

I hope you know what I mean.

Is something like that possible? I think i have to go for CC and not PC.

Today I tried to configure some MIDI settings - PC is working, CC is not.
For example:
Whats working: When I double hit the MIDI button on the JVM it starts to blink. Then I press the PC button from the Super Switcher for a few seconds and configure the MIDI channel and so on. After I "confirm" it on the Super Switcher (press the value button for a few seconds) the MIDI-LED on the Marshall stops blinking and registers the configuration.
Whats not Working: When I double-hit the MIDI button on the Marshall and want to hold the CC button on the Super Switcher, the Marshall Midi LED immediately stops blinking so I have no chance to configure some settings.

Can you tell me if my idea from a global ON/OFF Noise Gate control is even possible?
If so, do you know which CC number, value and channel I have to configure on the Super Switcher and how I do it with the JVM?

Hi, I think you are having a bit of mess with how MIDI works. Let me see if I can clarify a little bit:
- by pressing the MIDI button while powering up the amp you can select what MIDI CHANNEL the amplifier will listen to. By default is channel 1.
- once the amp is working you can do 2 things with midi:
* Program change, this is what you are incorrectly trying to do, it is storing an amplifier 'preset'/the different swith positions and recalling them via midi. Here is when you need to program the amp as what you are doing by pressing the MIDI switch etc. An example is having CH2 orange with the loop on assigned to your midi program change 5.
* Controller change. These are preassigned and these will be midi messages to specifically control a single feature. For example you want to control the noise gate. If you go to the manual you will mfind a midi table that tells you that for controlling the gate you need to send a CC message with CC12 plus a value that set to 0 to switch the gate OFF, 1 to switch the gate ON, any other value to toggle the gate. So what you habe to do is to go to your controller and assign your pedal to send a CC12 value 2 in midi channel #1 (assuming that you have the JVM set to listen to ch1) . Nothing to do on the JVM side.
