Anika seems to be a great drummer? Will be interested to hear her take on the eras where they weren't aping Zeppelin. Geddy looks like he is excruciating pain. Hire Claudio from Coheed to do the vocals.

She is. Very dynamic and creative, incredible timing and groove too.

Yeah I hope more videos surface over the year. It seems they are coming to Helsinki next year so might have to get some tickets.

I've seen them enough times to be good with it. Unless the prices suddenly went to mere mortal levels?

Checked the ticket prices. 350 € / person at the cheapest. Yeah...I'm not going to spend that kind of money even though I've never seen Rush live.
I don't see how they'll make that worth it unless they plan to release some regular priced tickets closer to the gig. There's not going to be enough Rush fans in Finland to fill those seats at that price.

I LOVE Rush. They are my favorite band.
I don’t know why they played “Finding My Way” at the Junos, and in the original key, because there was no way in hell Geddy was going to approach those high notes, and when he did try…oof. Hell, Rush had played 2112 live tuned in a lower key since the ‘90s.
I saw them on their last tour in 2015, and I thought (even without them saying it outright) that it would be their last, and I was perfectly fine with it. I could tell they lost a bit off the fastball then. Especially with ticket prices this high, and another 11 years behind them, I have no desire to see them on this go-round - and that’s not taking anything away from Anika; she’s fantastic - but without Neil, I can’t do it.

Even if not for the insane ticket prices, I want my memories of seeing Rush live to remain like they were when I saw them during MP, 7th row, first concert ever, in which I had myself seriously believing they were not from Earth, because no human beings on our planet could do what they were doing! (Substances were involved in that belief, but still... 
)
It was ALL live back then, no tracks, with both Ged and Alex playing Taurus pedals, completely blowing me away that 3 people could sound like a much larger band, not to mention the musicianship being spectacular. Couldn't have been a better way to start my concert-going life, and it took a little while until I saw a band that amazed me more than they did.
Oh, and without Neil, it ain't Rush to me.

I'd rather enjoy them for what they are now. The past is the past. They deserve to have fun and do what they do best, even if it's not to the level of their heyday.
A recurring client of mine is a huge Rush fan, and he happens to play guitar too. He'll be seeing them this year.

Honestly, if I were to go see this gig, it would specifically be to see Anika; and to see Alex and Geddy having fun playing with a different amazing drummer.
When my kid had a brief foray into playing drums pandemic we discovered her through drumeo, and I snagged some of her EPs. I really like them -- not terribly complex musically, and rhythmically it's not so much that it's complex, it's just unique, but still with a familiar deep groove. I really dig them.

I stopped liking new Rush after Roll the Bones. When they "returned to their roots" and "went back to rock" I was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy beyond over it after hearing a song or three. Not in a negative way so much as I just didn't need to listen to it. It's not what I went to Rush for?
So while I can definitely understand the sentiment of "this isn't Rush" (which is simultaneously bolstered all to heck by those ticket prices); I think it's a bit freeing to see them celebrate it in their own way with a more filled out lineup. Geddy's voice is far more concerning to me than a drummer replacement. As far as just being able to do it?

I haven't listened to her albums yet. Just from vids, she's sneaky complex, but seems to just keep that constant groove going. I forget what vid it was, but she was playing a slow groove that was so tight and in the pocket. Slow is harder to do.
