Rick Beato interview with Stewart Copeland

I started watching this last night and what I really appreciated was how much appreciation he has for Sting. I’m not a Sting fan (I dig that song about deserts and that’s about it) but I was aware of their turbulent past to some degree and hearing him giving Sting all that credit for his songwriting was endearing.

Definitely going to watch the rest of it.

He is such a character. I also liked the way he complemented Sting for saying The Police never split up in his Beato interview.

Despite the notoriety of their in-fighting, they never ended up with “lawyers at dawn” like Pink Floyd or Credence, and all say they get along fine as long as they don’t play music together.

Getting along with Ginger Baker was also a rare feat for many drummers.

Saw The Police on Syncronicity, and Stewart Copeland was so interesting to watch. They put the camera on him quite a lot, and I remember being so impressed seeing him reach for a towel and wipe his face while never missing a beat. It was a long time ago, during a blurry part of my life, but I recall just being fascinated watching him play. And I had seen Rush by this time. SC had more...., flair. My favorite guy in the band for sure!
