Got some gift cards for Christmas and decided I wanted to swap out these F12X speakers in my other 112 cabs with some traditional speakers. Grabbed an 8ohm redback. I will be able to get away with a 112 with the LX without feeling nervous now if nothing else. I had one years ago but don't really remember anything about it. Looking forward to giving it a runthrough :satan

Lots of semi-vague verbiage about them on the net (vintage but with higher power handling, darker). We'll see how they do. I'm excited if nothing else because it's another real guitar speaker.

Kind of off the ""FRFR"" Celestion Speaker Train?? :idk
For now at least. When the damn things were having trouble keeping up when powered by a 100 watt tube amp; it was just time to make a move. Whether that situation was actually user error or not. I LOVE my studio monitors and the FR12 is a great in between solution. If I'm using a speaker in a guitar cab; it might as well be a guitar speaker :bag I'm sure I'll change my mind again but for now; I'm sticking to it:rofl

I never went down that FRFRabbit-hole. Heard some glowing recommendations, but
didn't feel a desperate enough lack of this, that, or the other.... to want to change.

Oh, because of Creambacks. :chef

“Full, tight, vintage bottom end with a smooth top end to cut through the mix the way modern music demands! Great for classic Les Paul into Marshall tones!”

But a creamback can’t do that super useful, not at all schizophrenic thing of sounding like a Jensen for verse 1, a Celestion Blue for pre-chorus, a greenback stack for chorus, back to Ceestion blue for verse 2 and prechorus, a blend of greenback and V30 for second chorus, the a 1x4 pignose for the bridge…

I've circled far more than my share of rabbit holes publicly but I'm usually good at stopping short of bullet pointed elaboration levels of side quests

Interested in hearing how it works out for you!

I actually have yet to try my redback/creamback Madison with the band but I’m swapping that cab in at my drummers next week

It will be interesting to see if red or cream wins out for the mic for the IEMs

Of course, I could always just mic up both speakers :satan

I have a KSR 4x12 loaded with reds and creamback 75s. It’s a killer cab with a more “modern” tone than my Mesa OS and Friedman v30/greenback. I dig it quite a bit with some of my amps, but I can’t quite tell if it’s the combo that I really like or if it’s one of the speakers more than the other :D

I should mic it up on some individual speakers to compare.

A Redback and Creamback sounds like a very cool combination.
