Recording dry or with effects

The only things I will use when recording is OD / Distortion and if running clean I will put on a light compressor, to where you don't really know it is working unless you turn it off. It helps the feel when playing and gives me a little more sustain. I can always add more compression after recording if needed. I will add any other effects to the tracks post recording.

I have an interface with a DSP so I can add reverb and delay to my sound that doesn't go on the track. That helps a lot.

Wah is another effect I would record on the track. I forgot about that one. I don't use it much.

On some tracks I recently reamped, I actually took my DI from my stomp -after- my wah pedal so that would be baked in to the DI tracks lol. I know some pros have "wah guys" back stage operating for them, but personally trying to operate an expression pedal on something I'm not simultaneously playing feels very strange and not fluid to me :LOL:
