I’d like to see a “stickied” post announcing firmware releases such as they have at the other place. It’s useful and keeps everyone up to date and is a time saver in case anyone missed hearing about an update.

@DrewJD82 can we do this please if feedback is positive?
Ok if no! I’ll certainly contribute on products I work with if we proceed.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Those threads always attract the biggest weirdos and pointless bickering.

I vote against it. Most software alerts you when there’s updates and we see information and news blasts easily anyway. Each platform seems to have its own big thread here and I think that works well for general discussions.

Limiting it to announcements and possibly related issues to the update process might help. Thanks for your thoughts!

I agree with your point but hope it might be managed better here at the good place. That’s why I pinged @DrewJD82 for his thoughts as well as the community. A stickie (sticky?) is easy to avoid if desired. Finally, the bonus of such a thread is the ability to track updates and features for products you don’t currently own.

We shall let the community decide!

No bother to me. I think my only rule would be to keep them to FW updates and not beta's just for the sake of good housekeeping.

I think this could create more traffic on TGF
which would be a good thing for the forum.

I’m concerned though that it would attract antagonists whose only goal is to cause chaos.
If it is held strictly for FW updates then it would be helpful to those who are unaware.

I vote no. I think the specific threads for different modelers are the right place.

I don't know if this forum software supports "threadmarks", but those could be used to mark important posts and access them from the tip of the thread.

Ba-bump.

Please vote no matter which way you feel. Preferably option 1 or 2 as I personally think option 3 is just noise/joke and would prefer actionable opinions.

Again, vote how you please but please vote!

It’s easy to get the latest info by going to the other place but after years of using it, I’d rather direct all of my traffic here. I think we have a generally kind set of folks and we certainly have our fair share of heavy hitters with loads of experience and appreciated contributions. As someone else mentioned this might improve the number of visitors to the site and I definitely feel it’s deserved. If it does increase things it’s one way for us to give back to The Gear Forum. I’ll certainly be fine with the community’s decision and respect it.

Thanks everyone! - Jason

I am neutral on this one. I spend enough time on the Fractal Forum to know when the updates happen, but I know that not everybody pays that much attention. If it benefits enough people here it’s a worthy addition.
