Quad Cortex Mini

I see this comment a lot, but I don't think it's right to blame G66. Fractal prices are higher outside of north america, regardless of what part of the world or what distributor you're talking about. It's the same in australia or japan. The common factor is Fractal, not G66.
I'm not blaming G66 alone. Its the system, man.

Hey, i'm not your wife man  If you like the thing, get two and rock out 🤘
Thankfully, my wife is actually more persuaded by "but is it going to give you chub chub" than rational debate. And the current status of our bank account. Which, unfortunately, is a liiiiiiiiittle low for a splurge on this for the foreseeable future.

You have a real hangup with Fractal.

Fractal should just raise their prices in the US to reflect overseas prices, that’s the best way to make things fair

It’s almost like transport and import taxes and fees are a thing in the real world. US market benefits from B2C distribution, a blessing.

Neural knows most of their hardware never touches a floor, the switches are there because they’re also encoders. I’d be less worried about stepping on the screen versus the thing flipping over trying to use a corner switch quickly when you almost forget you gotta change patches or turn on your delay or something. Then there’s the minimum 1” you need all the way around it on a pedalboard if you want to the use the switches alongside other pedals. Looks like a goofy product, makes sense they’re already sold out.

I follow your logic but you are never going to convince an American of this, myself included :roflFractal is not the common factor because ordering directly from Fractal you get Fractal’s price. Not living in the US is the common factor.

Is a QC cheaper in Finland/Europe than in the US? Just wondering, I would be surprised if it isn’t.

Fractal setting the price the foreign distributors buy the product seems the more likely common thread...

The QC is about the same in europe and the US.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the way Fractal prices their products. I'm just saying it isn't G66's fault buyers in europe pay a higher price. It seems like Fractal charges G66 and all their worldwide distributors basically the retail price.

I think the way to look at it is: the rest of the world pays the normal price, but buyers in the US get a discount because there's no middle man.

Do you velcro pedals to the floor?
No, I don’t Velcro anything to anything because if I’m buying a modeler with that much horsepower I’m not using other shit with it and mounting it to a board just means more shit to deal with because the hardware wasn’t designed for the task I would ask of it. That’s why I wouldn’t buy something so gimped in on-device performance features.
