I used either the 808 or a MXR GT-OD that I downloaded. (my analog go-to).For rhythm I like using the Grind boost, but for leads I find it too thin so I swap to the OD-1.

You said you were using these as clean boosts right? Where are you setting the drive and volume on the 808?I used either the 808 or a MXR GT-OD that I downloaded. (my analog go-to).
I think it's captures? Since he said downloadedYou said you were using these as clean boosts right? Where are you setting the drive and volume on the 808?

Ah, I got that the MXR was a download, but I thought he was referring to the "native" 808 model.I think it's captures? Since he said downloaded
Not that you asked me but I always turn the drive all the way down and set the level to taste but it's usually between 70%-100%. The Grind pedal I keep at like 60%ish.
Yes, the “native” 808.You said you were using these as clean boosts right? Where are you setting the drive and volume on the 808?
Interesting. I would never have considered going quite that "wide" with (0.0!) drive vs. level. I'll give it a go.Yes, the “native” 808.
Overdrive 0.0
Tone 5.0
Level 10.0
MRX is a capture with the same settings.
That’s the tried and true metal boost setting, and it’s ADDICTINGInteresting. I would never have considered going quite that "wide" with (0.0!) drive vs. level. I'll give it a go.
It tightens up the low end more than “boosting”.Interesting. I would never have considered going quite that "wide" with (0.0!) drive vs. level. I'll give it a go.
That tight chugga chuggaIt tightens up the low end more than “boosting”.
Always on.
I'd heard of the technique, of course, but I'd also heard that it was a bad idea (on some ODs, or on some modelers, or both?) to drop the drive all the way down to 0. I usually have OD very low (like 0.3) and then goose the level a bit - but nowhere near 10, for fear of clipping the subsequent amp block in some undesirable/ unrealistic way.It tightens up the low end more than “boosting”.
Always on.
