Post-metal suggestions

Among other genres, I'm a fan of post-metal and related music (perhaps a fusion of post-metal, progressive rock, and sludge?) and I'm always looking for new music to listen to. Here I'm thinking about music like Isis, Cult of Luna, Callisto, Russian Circles, Oceansize, The Ocean etc.

Do you have any suggestions for me and others who appreciate this kind of music?

PS: I could perhaps also add @Orvillain's former band Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster, which I've discovered after joining this forum. I've actually listened a lot to their The World Inside album from 2021.

And yes, the algorithms can and do feed us things like this. But I'd like human suggestions and—dare I hope—even some discussion about the music.

I'm never sure where the line between Post Rock and Post Metal is but some others in this vein that I dig:
  • If These Trees Could Talk
  • Red Sparowes
  • Barrows (my old band played with them once)
  • Even Gods Can Die (old buddies)

Yeah, drawing hard lines between genres is hard–and perhaps unnecessary?

But cool! Thanks for the suggestions. I love Red Sparowes; I have no idea how many times I've put on "In Illusions of Order";

I'lll certainly check out your other suggestions,.

I'd also like to suggest listening to the album Like Iron I Rust from the band Kollwitz;

It's a pretty unknown Norwegian niche, underground band. But I like it.

plug in "Isis" the band in Pandora as a new station... it plays all the good stuff, Mogwai/Pelican/RussianCircles/ThisWillDestroyYou/Hacride/Isis/IfTheseTreesCouldTalk/GodIsAnAstronaut, on and on and on, Isis is the bedrock tho.

Isis drummer was Danny Carey's drum tech, he even took tabla lessons from Aloke Dutta also, he's basically DC v2 to me, with the tom phrasing and sentence-structure kick snare work, Aaron Harris is the guy. "Palms" band is him and Chino. fuckin crazy, Isis is my #2 music group between Sikth and Karnivool

You have good taste in music, Richard.

Soen is really cool, and new to me. I've been digging them.

I like Leprous, too, but they are hit and miss because their singer
can be a little too sensitive and pretentious for my tastes. It's a
same because he can howl, but goes for the falsetto more than
Adam Levine's doppleganger.

Cool! Danny Carey is probably close to being the GOAT to me. I love ISIS and have listened a bit to Karnivool. I had forgot all about Palms (even with Deftones being one of the most influential bands for me growing up, with Around the Fur and White Pony the most important albums for me), but I will revisit. And I will def check out Sikth!

And yes, I also like some of the things I've heard from Leprous - but I suspect we might be on the same page regarding the singer.

I'll look up Soen!

What do you guys think about the band Wheel? I stumbled upon them recently and have listened a bit to their Moving backwards album. I like it. A pretty clear and obvious Tool influence there.

I found them recently as well - definitely Tool/Karnivool vibes but that is a good thing in my book :)
