I like this axe, but it does come to me that some might find it ugly.

I used to have a Mayones that was brilliant but also ugly, so I had to move it because of OCD.

This guitar has a beautiful top, and I like the Explorer shape, but I find the headstock quite odd.

That said, it is a Knaggs, and I am hearing more and more about how they're wonderful to play. And given the body is awesome, but no the headstock, I would go with a So So rating, or maybe even a Ho Ho (it's ugly but nice).

It's hit and miss for me.

The headstock and body styling don't match. The Strat-like, more sharp edged headstock is at odd with the rounted corner body.

But I like the flame top, black and gold hardware etc.

The body shape sucks to me. I hate these kind of rounded, bulbous bodies.

im wrong one to ask but that covers basically every box of what i wouldnt want. figured wood, gross bdy shape, hums, trem, bad color. im sure great music could be played in it in the right hands and its no doubt made beautifully- but aesthetically hard hard pass.

i will say though, the single volume tone controls with a four or five way switch is a good choice.

Apart from all aesthetic aspects, I'm sure the ergonomics would put me off (mainly the strap pin location on the upper non-cutaway, which will likely result in the neck moving too far to the left and the picking position requiring some getting used to as well).

Couple new power amps, an Axe III, and now a high-end Knaggs. You're on a buying spree huh? :grin

We love that shit here!

And the right answer is, If you like it, that's all that matters.

Knaggs look like someone trying to be different, but mostly missing the mark, to me.

Edit: But that one's kinda cool actually.

If you already have to ask us then you already know how this is gonna go down

Personally I would never drop that kind of money on a guitar I thought was “So So”

I'm actually down for a "Ho Ho" on the poll. I don't think it's gorgeous, but this is the kind of guitar that looks best with someone holding it in a horizontal position on stage.

The headstock looks much better than a Tyler.

Tylers look obnoxious by themselves, but I really like them when looking at them in a 45-degree horizontal position in mine or anyone else's hands.

Like in this video, I think the headstock looks kind of cool

Then again, that could be just me ho ho! Wouldn't be the first guitar I bought, went home and then said, "Damn, is that thing fugly!"

I think I'm in a good place gear-wise, just moving out things that did not fit my ideal sound. All used, some trades, and some stuff being moved out to fund it.

One particular focus has been on moving in the direction of rack gear. Other than a Mark IV and a Sig:X, I've moved three amps in the past couple of weeks.

Might move out more sooner than later, like I did some years ago. I really can't play all my equipment all at once, so I would like to just trim stuff to manageable levels and spend more time enjoying writing and playing than trying out different gear.

The Knaggs is something I had thought of getting some time ago as well, finally decided it was something I could definitely bond with. In particular, the shape is something that has grown on me.

That said, have you seen Kauer Guitar's take of the Explorer? I was so impressed, though I haven't heard a lot about the builder.
