Have you ever played though something like that? It was an experience that every rock player should have at least once. It’s not just volume. I think modern quiet stages are definitely easier to work with but it’s not the same. Probably nostalgia mostly but it was fun.

It’s not about the on stage playing experience which is glorious, but about the sound for the audience across the venue. Vertical line arrays are so far superior to a horizontal wall of speakers that it isn’t really even debatable. Again from the perspective of providing sound to the audience.

Totally agree but I was talking about the player.
I played in front of a similar wall of doom in the late 80s for a couple of years and it was so much fun.

Well, a single stack (or even a single speaker) on stage in typical backline position (as in sitting behind the player) is possibly even worse than a bunch of them.
The most earpiercing experience I ever had on a live event was at a Robben Ford gig. He played a rental service Twin and the sound front of stage was just soo horrible - I'm sure in case he had used two fullstacks, it'd been way better.

My exact experience at my last Robben Ford gig and it was one of the loudest for years.

Everything old is new again. I’m sure it’s fine but to me it falls into that category of things that might look appealing and as soon as you get it you’d wished you got something better.

But if it does the job one and done who am I to ruin your ART
