Pedal Computer? CE1

I've kicked this around a lot the last few days. IMO, it shows the value of a purposely designed piece of hardware. My Fractal (insert whatever brand you prefer) for example. It is uniquely hardened for the demands of everything from studio work, to live shows. No, it can't run Windows. But I don't need it, or want it to. The internal software, and hardware components are assembled, and tuned specifically to create guitar and bass sounds that are good, reliable, and repeatable. Now if I imagine that the Windows pedal has similar physical hardening, that's a step in the right direction. However, you're still throwing a certain amount of overhead at managing the OS, and components that DON'T contribute to the desired result. I'm certain Fractal has this overhead as well, but it's been specifically designed (I realize this is my assumption) to minimize that overhead.

Don't get me wrong, I'm VERY interested in NAM technology and how good the sound is. And I can see a day when I will put up with the extra overhead. But I think a MacBook + low latency interface + bluetooth pedal is closer to what I would use. And yes, that CAN BE much more expensive. But the additional cost is worth it to me. Again, personal opinion.
Of course. I don't think it's a question of one being better than the other, or even trying to be better than the other. They're completely different products for different applications. I wouldn't trade my QC for this pedal, nor would I trade either of them for the PC on my desk, or vice-versa.

The point of this Paint Audio device isn't that it can run Windows. It's that because it runs Windows, it brings a lot of versatility to the table - which may or may not lend value depending on what you intend to do with it.

I can still activate it on the device itself. It's more about I don't want to track credentials on some GD Apple ID I use for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. I've also noticed it only seems to prompt for activation when I am 15 minutes from starting the show. Probably because it's too old of a device to use for anything else ever so the only time it's on is when I need to read lyrics from it :bag
Yep. I know the drill. The battery's always run down too, I'll bet, even though you never ask it to do anything. :D

I know… I’m an Apple guy since long. But peak Windows was XP. After that. Windows died. It was NT at its best. Long live XP! XP was the king.

I’m out!
And im probably wrong also… pfft…
