Had to be done. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Turn up that mids knob!

EDIT: On further review, all the ones with "gain" in the label also need to be turned clockwise!

I ran mine like a Marshall. I know, go figure.

Such an untapped (literally!) usage.... :chef

Welcome back to the club, you mean lol. I sold my block letter a few years ago right before Eddie passed and the prices went nuts. I’ve also had a 6505 and a 6505 1992 Original. The truth is I should never, ever be without a 5150/6505. Not the plus, not the III (even though I do love those too). 🤘

Same. I think I took $500 for it in like 2016-7.
:facepalm

My son had to have emergency surgery, and being a sole proprietor my
insurance at the time was sketchy... unlike now (:crazy ). Yeah right. :facepalm

I literally sold it and a few other amps on the spur of a moment. Would totally do it
again. But still. Ouch!

Understandable but yeah. Damn..

I still look.

Block Letter 5150s are like $1500 in decent condition. I'd hit one for a grand.

I still see 6505s for $600-$700.... so that remains a pretty affordable option. :idk

I had an og and someone fd up the bias mod and it was not ok. Fair warning.

Bought a new 6505+ and had switchable 5150 mods and it is killer.

Watch out for the old models being tampered with.
I’m not sure about mine tbh. It sounds fine but has a power cable that’s clearly been messed with. It has a yellow aftermarket end on it. That doesn’t mean much but definitely makes me a tiny bit suspicious. I should really checks these tubes too….

I tore down the EVH tonight. The problem turned out to be the transistor that mutes the pop that happens when you switch channels. It identifies as two diodes rather than a JFET.

J174s are obsolete so i put in a J175. I know it’s working because it’s friggen LOUD again.

The main board is kinda flimsy and judging from all the jumpers it must be cheaper to hire prison labor than to pay for a double sided PCB. 😂
Was this in an EVH? Not a Peavey?

Haha! Big Yellow Caution Light!!

That's funny. Screams DIY in a pretty scary way.

Good luck. Sure it's all good!

I’m tempted to take it to a tech because the volume seems not completely out of control like they usually seem to be. But I also don’t wanna be without it for a few weeks. The tech place can be slow.
