Passive Dummy Load for 50W 8 Ohm Amp

Hello,

I am using a Fryette - VHT 2/50/2 power amp, but in some situations only one cab is connected to the channel A, which leaves the other channel B disconnected to a proper load.

That's fine as long as the Standby/On switch of channel B stays in the "Standby" position, but I worry that a bandmate or even myself will inadvertently hit the wrong switch.

Are there cheap products such as "passive dummy load" which exist which could connect to the channel B of the amp? I don't need any attenuator or silent recording functionality, so any reactive load boxes such as Two Note are overkill.

Thanks for any suggestions!

This is the one case where you could simply use a big heatsinked, 50-100W 8 ohm resistor.

But if you don't want a DIY solution, find the cheapest resistive attenuator with 50+ watt power handling.

What I'd do however is that when you know there will be only one cab connected, put some tape or cover over the other standby switch so somebody will immediately see it as "don't touch".

Might also be worth asking Fryette if you can e.g take the fuse out for this?
