OCD V2

Well I spent a bit of time tonight modding a V1.3 I built a few years ago to 1.7 specs and I think this will work for me. The early versions used 500k volume pots and had very high output impedance, this was causing me issues with some pedals coming after it and also problems with buffers.

One of the spec changes with V1.7 was a 100k volume pot and so far it seems to have fixed my problem. I'll see how it goes but it'll be nice to have an OCD back on my board.

Love the tweed! Did you lacquer it?

Love the tweed! Did you lacquer it?

Yeah I got a load of Tweed offcuts from an amp builder in the UK about 10 years ago and have been rationing it out. I've got enough left for 7 or 8 pedals. Jesse Hoff from Lazy J told me which stuff he used to lacquer his cabs so I grabbed some and use it on my tweed pedals when I make them.

The OCD is one of those pedals I've always really liked, but when I think about it, never really used beyond a few leads here there. I've owned several over the years. Might grab one again at some point!

“Warm Audio’s ODD V1 Box replicates the circuit of the 1.4 OCD variant, interestingly one that exhibits a couple of things not present in any other version…. No ‘version 1’ OCDs of any variety are currently in production and the secondhand price of the favourites like the 1.4 and 1.7 have risen accordingly. To some people there will always be an extra kudos in having the ‘real thing’, but if you want a v1.4 and can’t justify the inflated pricing, Warm Audio’s ODD Box will get you there.”

$119

“ Lucky for me, I actually own a Fulltone OCD…. to compare Warm Audio’s ODD…. Starting with the ODD, it’s astonishing how much the ODD actually feels like an OCD in your hand, having nearly the same substantial weight. But what’s more important is tone, and the ODD, again, in its impressiveness, sounds almost indistinguishable from the OCD. The ODD delivers that unmistakable dynamic overdrive that approaches distortion – just like the OCD – in a lively and forthright manner, poking and cutting through with what feels like a natural tube-like response.

It’s staggering to hear how well the ODD is able to match the OCD’s distinct overdriven character in the same sweetly saturated way. I’ll also point out I spent more time with the UK setting rather than the US simply because the UK setting provided a much warmer tone, whereas the US setting had more treble bite and cleaner boost, which I found complementary when I stacked the ODD with other drive pedals.”

If I wanted an OCD old-school type, I’d buy this from Sweetwater or someone else cool about returns and give it a spin.
I’m not, just trying to help OP maybe. - J

The warm audio is a clone of v 1.4 it still uses a 500k volume pot and has a very high output impedance so I'd still be in the same position I was in before modding my V1.3.

I also won't give Warm Audio any of money. There's clones and then there's behringer and warm audio.

After modding mine to lower the output impedance it seems to have fixed my problem so I'm all good now.

That’s great to hear!

I bought the Ge version while it was discounted last month. I had read that the Ge version wasn’t as bright as the normal pedal.

I’m primarily using it with my Vox AC15 normal channel set clean. I am really enjoying it in this application. I have to gotten around to stacking it with other pedals yet, but that will be my next experiment.

Klones work really well after an OCD.
