OCD V2

Anyone got one or compared the V2 with the earlier ones? I really like the OCD but it does not play well with buffers and I'd like to put one back on my board. On paper the V2 should solve my problem but wanted to find out if anyone on here had tried one yet.

I tried the version 2 and liked my V4 better. I think mine is a V4.7? I would have to open it up to see. Mine seems a little warmer. The general character is there in the V2. I could get tones I liked with running the tone knob a little lower.

You must have a 1.7. V2 is the more recent version with a buffer you can turn on and off.

Which issue? with buffers? Do you mean version 1.7?
Just joshing. I tried a V2 and didn’t care for it. I had an earlier version years before but haven’t been able to compare them side by side.
Unless someone else is able to attest to this perhaps try one from a place with a liberal return policy.

Man, I had that all messed up. I had to open it and look again. It is a version 1.4. My buddy has a 1.7. We put them head to head one day and we both liked my 1.4 a lot better than his 1.7. I would say his 1.7 is closer to the V2. Mine is quite a bit different than the V2. After we played both of the pedals with the same guitar through the same amp he just looked at me and I told him it wasn't for sale. We both laughed and he asked me how I knew he was going to ask me how much for it. I didn't know he was going to ask and just said that as kind of a joke. But it isn't for sale. ;)

I just sold a V2 last week. It's the only OCD I've tried, but the other guitarist in my band uses one for a boost, I'll check which one it is next time I'm over there because I know he definitely won't know. When my uncle and I A/B'd it with the OCD in the FM9 we got them sounding identical and we did the "there's a tiny, tiny difference somewhere, I can't pinpoint it, it's not EQ, it's not dirt and it feels the same, but it's somehow different" thing that I used to scoff at but know what people mean now.

It's such a meaningless difference that if you swapped between both of them for a entire day listening for the difference then walked out of the room and had someone cover everything up for you to come back and guess which one you were playing through, you'd have zero clue.

I have tried most OCD versions since I bought my v1.1, which is the most amp like of all versions I have tried.

Versions 1.1 had some unobtanium part, though at this point I can't remember what it was, but v1.1 is truly different that all the other versions...

Everything after v1.4 sounds/feels more like a boost/distortion pedal, to me, tried v2 in a GC, it was too boxy/filtered for moi.

Only one I kept is the v1.1, v1.2-v1.4 are better for Fender style amps with scoop mids :clint

I also have the OCD GE. I like what that pedal does but it is definitely different than the OCD. Check those out if you get the opportunity. I noticed they are making them again. It was a limited edition pedal when I got mine. Mine is signed my Michael. I don't know if the internals are the exact same components in the new one but it would be worth checking out if you get the chance.
