I get it that not everyone is in to the “Asia Stuff” but some brands like Hotone and Nux are truly legit with excellent Engineers. This may well be the most “bang for the buck” $300 unit ever released. It sure as hell smokes the Iridium. So unless Strymon releases a new version at $399 that addresses the disparity, who’s getting owned as we watch?
I expect an MG-40 unit to create stress at $400.
Ampero III will shake foundations.
I just ordered a Ampero II as a fun diversion/back up rig because it has all of the good stuff of the Stage, but is just $400 all day, every day from Soniccake.
I expect it to be an incredible value, but I do not expect an Ampero III or IV or any of those variants to blow up the top tier of the current modeling hierarchy.
Those companies are delivering on several years of support, development and optimization. For Line 6 and Fractal, we're right at or a little under a decade's worth, respectively. Beyond that, you're going to get top notch screens, foot switches, converters, inputs, etc. that are worth every extra penny.
Kudos to Hotone in particular for adding on some neat features to the Ampero II line post launch, but they have a completely different business model that kinda relies on planned obsolescence.
