Someone local was selling a Celestion Gold 12" at a great price so I had to buy it. I used to own one and sold it several years ago for a dumb reason. I put it in my Badlander 50 today and I'm in heaven. I liked the stock Creamback for some things but clean with EL34s, some bass notes tended to sound kinda stiff and lifeless. Not so with the Gold. Sounds fantastic and worth the couple of extra pounds. I need to add some gold IRs to the Cabclone and I'll be set.

Congrats!

I am a big fan of the Celestion 10" Golds. I have a pair of them mounted in an X pattern with a pair of 10" Greenbacks in a Mojotone 4x10 cab.

So far I have neglected to try it with my Badlander, but I will remedy that tomorrow.

I would love to have another 4x10 with the 10" Golds. How do they pair with the Greenbacks?

I loved the 12" Gold I had in a Tube Town cab, but I sold it along with my Victory VC35. In hindsight a really stupid move because that sounded amazing, though the cab itself could've been better (worked better as a closed back because otherwise it would be a bit woofy in the lows).

The 10 and the 12 are just wonderful speakers. Surprisingly versatile tone machines! Probably my desert island speakers.

I chose the Celestion Gold + Greenback combination based on a recommendation from Life Eats Life ...

The ‘Ace’ mix..

My Ceriatone KK50 is the primary host for this cab, and I sometimes add my Park 2x12 loaded with Creambacks. All 3 of those speaker types work extremely well together (based on my compromised hearing).

For a hot rodded plexi type amp, the "ace mix" just works from everything from clean to crunch to shred. With the KK50, it's my preferred cab, choosing it over my T75 loaded Marshall 6960b, Mesa horizontal V30 2x12, and Jensen Blackbird 2x12.

Today I'm going to spend some time using it with my Badlander 100 as I have been inspired by this thread.
