NPAD Anyone use an ENGL Power Amp to amplify their modeller?

I managed to get this power amp after it popped up for sale. Really clean. It's an Engl E840.

Was wondering if anyone uses one with their modeller, or perhaps some rack gear they have.

I, for one, am quite stoked. Have read that it's a really good modeller, and I think the 50watt limit and independent left and right sides would be great to pair with the Line 6 Stadium XL that I plan to purchase, like everybody else.

I’m not using an Engl, but I’ve used a Mesa Simul 2:90 extensively with Helix. I’ve had astoundingly good results running the Hx Cali Lead (Mesa Mk IV) preamp model into the 2:90 to create a hybrid Mark IV with infinite channels and snapshots changing GEQ settings. I’m not sure your average listener would be able to pick out the Hx hybrid tones from my Mark III when pushed through the same cab.

I’m EAGERLY awaiting whatever improvements come along with Agoura, because they may end up closing whatever gap there is to the point where I’d just gig the Stadium XL with the 2:90. Hell, might as well go stereo.

Just make sure you have your Helix output levels set to match your power amp. You usually want line level out to the poweramp.

I run my AxeFX into an LXII/KSR for cab action and it sounds killer. Unless recording it’s my favorite way to use a modeler, getting all that room vibe back into the equation.

That ENGL power amp I’ve stared at on more than a few occasions. I’d bet it slaps. 🤟
