NGD - with some frustrations and considerations

I would absolutely keep it and fix the issue. You can have it exchanged and then find you don't jive the same way with the replacement -- but then it's not a simple matter of fixing minor issues like this.

Don’t request a different guitar for a nothing thing like this particularly if the rest is great. Imagine sending it back and receiving one that has no faults but the guitar is worse for the sake of a nothing fix.
I see this often, people send back an exceptional instrument for a minor issue and the replacement is way worse but no actual fault.
100%

IMO, that's bullshit! It shouldnt take 10 days to get back to you on a warranty repair. This aint a $150 Jay Turser. Come on PRS, do better!

Also IMO, when someone buys a $2500 guitar, they should receive a personal phone call from someone a few days after to make sure everything is good.

D is your best choice here IMO.

Yeah not exactly how one wants a ngd to pan out lol

I did unbox it again for the deoxit hail mary... no such luck there. But heck maybe tonight ill pull the panel back off and get back in there and start checking again at the resistor to ground like you mentioned... can't hurt. They said if I wanted to do the exchange I could still keep this one til they were in stock so not on a time crunch either

All this time pondering, I already would have swapped pickups and refretted with super jumbo frets by now.

If you have continuity on the ground, it's probably the PU.

If it's stuck in split, it could be the PU where one side is the only one connected at the windings. You could check the resistance of both PU's by setting the meter to Ohms and check it. That Trogly YT guy that does Gibson LP's can show you how to do it. He does it on every guitar he reviews.

Yup. Send that fokker back (it's a sign from the Gods!) and hunt yourself down a sweet-ass used Core Series. :banana

Yeaaaaahh unfortunately a used core semi hollow special would run me an additional $1k, I'm not turning this into a $3500 purchase :rofl

Good info thank you.... and the ground would be.. what exactly in this circuit?

I'll check out trogly. If this is a bad pickup then it's absolutely a send back no question

$2600 for an S2. WTF? :puppet

That's pushing $2750 after Tax, right? :idk

Is this the New Age where SEs are not at S2 prices and S2 prices are now at Core prices?

Where have you been? new cores have been north of $5k for ages :cop:cop:cop

and S2 got a big upgrade with all USA parts and electronics in 2024

The best deals on cores are used early 2000s models... I got me '00 cu22 for $1700

I know we differ on our positions on the S2 stuff, but my s2s are just as good as my core. Core just has more "artisan craftmanship" and fancier looking wood :idk

Thank you!!

Ok I checked the resistor to ground…. No continuity when the switch is down/in humbucker mode but continuity when it’s up/single coil mode

However, checking the bass pickup switch, it has no continuity in either position, which doesn’t make sense because that switch definitely is doing what it’s supposed to?

So I’m confused lol

As far as checking resistance of the pickups, I skimmed through a random trogly video and didn’t see him doing any resistance tests

But I did this from the Seymour Duncan website:

Just told me what I already know tho, neck pickup changes depending on mini toggle location

Bridge pickup is the same in either toggle location

@Eagle I know you’re in the position that I shouldn’t send it back, and I’d certainly prefer not to… based on the tests I’ve done so far and results any other thoughts or insight you could recommend?
